Thumbs up Ecu reset ftw!!!!!

After my recent oil change the service tech told me that they found a leak from my timing cover (only 10,400 miles on the car wtf!). I store my car for the winter so I'm not sure if that would cause a gasket to leak? anyways.. Before I returned for the new timing cover gasket, which is covered under warranty, I had a local shop install my Hahn catless downpipe and the difference was very noticeable…very happy with it. After having the dealer install the new timing cover gasket my car did not feel the same when I got it back, it was noticeably more sluggish. My but dyno was telling me something was wrong. Well after searching some forums I decided to try resetting the ECU. I pulled the ECU fuse #41 and ECU transmission fuse #43 for about an hour and then reinstalled them. They are located in the fuse box under the hood on the driver’s side. All I have to say is WOW what a difference! The car pulls hard again and all is right. If anyone has this problem and you tell yourself maybe I’m just “getting used to the power” it would not hurt to try this you just might be surprised. Oh yeah, I have GMTU and 5 speed manual.

THe GMS1 has the learn down feature turned off so any mods you add will be automatically adjusted for by the ECM and you will actually see gains. That's probably why you are noticing a big difference with the reset

The thing was I did experience gains before the dealer did the warranty work and then the car seemed slower when I picked it up so i reset the ecu. I'm not sure what the dealer did but it puzzled me for about a week and then I did the reset and now I'm back to grinning. I'm still not sure why I needed the reset, but it worked.

mine is boosting to 20 psi untuned and if it boosts for too long, just shut off the boost and wont go past like 5 psi until i turn the car off and turn it back on.

I know the turbo upgrade is supposed to disable the learndown, but I doubt it removes it fully. Maybe I'm just used to the power in the car now, or wished it had a feel closer to my other go fast vehicles have.

I hope not, but just for jiggles I pulled 41 for a while, to see if it would cure my ills. Sure enough ran like a bat out of hell, damn near scarred me. I have not started it again but I would bet a Benjamin that it will learn back again, and I have Trifecta it is definitely supposed to be off.

You should have taken the bet, I just drove it again, still running crazy strong, that's why it took me so long to come back. I now know less that I did this morning, aren't HHR SS's fun ??
