Im sure RF2 will help build you a basic list. But you're gonna need a lot of research if you've never done this type of mod. There are a couple here that have done the supercharger mod. There's a ton more kids doing this to cobalts. There's a ton of research that's been done for you, it would be beneficial for you to check over at the cobalt SS forum. Lots of info there, you just have to read through a lot. I'm shooting for a turbo mod on the 2.2, one thing I'm sure of..we're gonna need more fuel!
.
YES ! TURBOOOOO PFFFFT! (BOV sound) I Want a turbo superchargers are sweet! but a turbo is where the powers at.

Well, haven't forgotten the HHR, just been busy on the rebuild of my 89 z24. I have 192,000 on the HHR now. Since the 06 seems to be an orphan child for getting tunes etc... I am thinking of just getting a 2.4l (build the bottom end and go from there. I just put all new suspension and wheel bearings and fuel lines etc.

Question, what engines years in the 2.4l realm will work in my 06? Since the 06 cannot by tuned.... stupid 06.

None, as a straight swap. You will need a wiring harness, ECU, and BCM from the donor car.

2.4L has VVT, your 2.2L does not, thus the ECU and harness. I'm fairly sure you will need a matching BCM to work with the ECU.

If a new harness and PCM are required, I might as well do a 2.0 Turbo swap...
I'm beginning to think the Z24 2.8l to 3.8l vin1 swap was easier than what the HHR will be, lol. I'd go MS3 ecu if I new for sure I could keep the remote start... ya, ya, I know.

Well...that's a thought. If you've got 10k lying around! As far as an LNF swap goes. There's a few ways of going about it. I'm attempting an LNF swap in my 08 LT.

What you'll need; the ENTIRE wiring harness; ECM, TCM (auto), and BCM. You need the donor car to think it's an SS. A real wiring nightmare.

The other option I've only heard of, if you Google LNF drag boat you can dig up some good research there. Apparently, Trifecta can turn off the need for the BCM, VINs, etc. They call it a layered tune I believe. Once your "layer" is in place you can tune it yourself or have it tuned.

Keep us posted, you've got my attention (especially with that LTG)! Isn't that only a GMPP crate? Or does it come in a vehicle as well? If you've got a V6 Z24, this should be a walk in the park.

I believe it is in the Cadillac ATS and 2016 Malibu. I would prefer a MS ECU setup. Don't know if anyone has ran GM VVT successfully though, I'll read up on the MS forums.
I'm going to price some options as far as engines go and see what is the best way to go. Whether it be a rebuilt/built up 2.2 or something else I could fit in the engine bay. I do have a second 3800 Series II S/C motor laying around.. it is pure stock though.

You are correct sir. The LTG replaces the LHU. Here's a quote I ripped from GM authority;

The LTG is not related to the outgoing 2.0 liter turbo Ecotec LHU, with even the blocks being different. Compared to the LHU, the LTG reduces overall engine friction by 16 percent.

Impressive stuff indeed, but at a cost. I picked up a new lhu crate for about 2 grand. The 3800SC would be an interesting motor in there! I may be going in a different route with my project HHR. Darn ADD, I'm always into 3 projects at once and looking for a fourth it seems.

Hmm, I'm torn, as a LHU for that price with some modding would be money ahead. Though, if I can manage to fit the 3800 and CAM it with a 3in pulley....
And I hear ya, I always have multiple projects going. My wife despises it
