Has anybody yet upgraded to a high end Iridium plug? Any noticable improvements in driveability , performance, or mileage? Thanks!

From my experience (messing with cars since 1953) the only reason for using high end plugs in our daily drivers is the hassle of replacing them. I found on my PT that it took hours to change the plugs and did not want to do it very often so I put in plat plugs that were still working fine after 80 K when I sold the car (112 K total miles). Modern ignition systems are very very good due to the need to manage emissions. I have not looked at the HHR plug change yet but I do not think I will worry about.

Over the years I have never failed to be entertained by the ads purporting to give better performance and gas mileage by simply (fill in blank). PT Barnum was right, there is a sucker born every minute.

I just put in the Bosch IR +4 plugs in yesterday. Did it while my oil drained so it took about 30 minutes. Just take off the huge air cleaner assem and then remove each coil. Nice and easy. Use a 10 mm socket to remove the one bolt that holds down each coil.

What do you mean by "high end" iridium?? Do you mean another type/brand of iridium be? If you mean changing to an iridium plug, I believe someone on this forum indicated the plugs that are stock in the HHR ARE IRIDIUM.

can anyone tell me or post a pic on how or where the spark-plugs are ? just got an HHR LS 2.2L

Spark plugs are located on top of the motor (under the air filter box)..

Pic is of a 2.2 L61 (which also has a cover over the plugs)

If you don't have many miles on yours, why bother ?

the car has 152k i already have to replace both cabin & under hood air filters both Very very dirty other then that mainly want to just ck them & my preference !
