Smile Need advice: HHR 2006 with codes PO135, PO700 and UO140

Hi, First time posting. Our HHR has been acting up off and on, more recently on. Had the codes read today with the following showing up: PO135, PO700, UO140. We have researched the forum, lots of information, thanks, so we have an idea about issues. We would like to be a little more informed when we take it to a mechanic or dealership for service. Where should they start to make repairs and what questions should we be asking?

Welcome to the site.

Be aware that if you are looking for the above codes you won't find them - the 2nd character is not the letter O, it is the number 0 (zero).

So using the SEARCH tool at the top of the page:

p0135 gives a good explanation at https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...e-p0135-30776/ ie: check a specific fuse - and there are a few others as well related to the o2 sensor

P0700 - check this link out - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...0-p0974-56294/ - related to a transmission issue

u0140 - see post #160 at this link https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-s...-23450/page16/ and post 7 at https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...roubles-57275/ - related the Engine Control Module

Hope these help

My wild 300 mile guess is that one of the wires to one of the O2 sensors is laying on the exhaust. All of those codes are related in that they are usually wiring issues.

BUT, the fuse would be worth checking.

Now that you know that all of those "Os" are zeros just plug the codes into GoOgle for more information than you could possibly need.

Thank you for the reply whopper. Correction noted. The links are very helpful. We will follow advice on checking fuses, etc then head to a recommended dealership for service. Will keep you posted.

At the dealership with 2006 HHR

Well, we are at the dealership. Service guy read codes, he says so many codes it could cost well over $1500 to address issues, replacing modules was his focus. We advised him of GM lifetime on power steering (which he wasn't aware of), so he checked and agreed to work on that. We did ask him to check all fuses and look at wiring. He was not very receptive to some suggestions, saying "anyone can put anything on internet and not back it up." Told him we were not trying to be a know it all, but there is clear evidence this model has issues. All of this was said with a smile. So we are waiting. We did not get the list of codes, but plan to get a copy before we leave.

Sounds like the dreaded dead battery cell, my '07 light up a bunch of codes when the battery went south! It could also be a loose ground wire!

I would try that as well. Just curious, which dealer in NC?

Put anything on the internet and not back it up? Say what? My GM dealer has contacted me two or three times when they have an issue on an HHR, they can't get a handle on!

That is exactly what they say when you hand them a TSB print out, and then they refuse to look it up for themselves.

When did the power steering get into the mix?
