engine swap
#6
I don't know of any one that has done it. Now, if you have a complete donor car (which it appears you do) then it can be done.
Lot's of work will be involved. You'll pretty much have to strip both cars down to nothing but a body shell.
Front and rear fascias will have to be swapped. You can't fit an SS intercooler in the LS bumper.
Complete engine/trans swap and the entire SS wiring system: including all the computer modules.
(I hope that both cars have the same trans. as in both stick or both auto. If not, then that's a whole different issue to deal with)
The SS's complete FE5 suspension.
The SS interior.
The SS also has a different EPS setup. You'll most likely have to swap out the steering rack and the electric power steering motor. Will probably be easier to swap out the entire steering column.
The instrument panel and the boost gauge will need to swap over.
This is just some of the stuff off the top of my head at 5:30 in the a.m. There's a whole lot of little stuff you'll have to deal with.
Actually, I would love to tackle a project like this as long as there was no time constraints on getting it finished.
