Mass Air Flow Sensor

Aloha All!
I have a question about the MAF sensor. Does it matter which way the sensor is installed? The reason i'm asking is when i installed my intake system i didn't pay any particular attention as to which direction the sensor came out of the stock intake tube. When i reinstalled it into the new tube i just plugged it in figuring i had a fifty-fifty chance of getting it right.

If it does matter and i got it wrong what kind of problems would show up to let me know?

I know someone has the answer because you guys are the Kings of HHR Knowledge!!

I think there should be an arrow on the MAF itself showing the direction of air flow....Arrow points towards the throttle body...Not sure what happens when it's not in correct....Also, I think if your harness release clip on the MAF is on the bottom side, that would be correctly installed.

I don't think you can put it in backwards as the bolt pattern should be asymetrical. There should be an arrow which shows air flow as well.

61Belair is correct: the MAF sensor will only bolt in one way.

If you got it reinstalled, it's in the right way.

Enjoy!

Okay...Thanks to all of you who replied...I check again and it's in correctly. The main reason i asked is because it seems that sometimes when i let off the gas pedal, the rpms go up slightly for a second or two then drops. I thought maybe if the sensor was installed wrong that might have something to do with it. Anybody else having this happen??
