Ram Air?
#21
I was looking under the hood last night and I couldn't help but wonder if anyone has tried a functional ram air hood scoop yet. Maybe cut the top of the original air box open with a foam seal between the hood & the box?
Would engine rocking effect this much?
There seems to be plenty of room to work with.

Or!!!!!
I have a pletora of magnets from fridge seals and it made me think ...you could use rubber say from a truck innertiube (like the ones used for river tubbin .... with some temp grade plastic to stiffen it ...then use magnets to insure a seal when the hood drops ??? what do you think?
OHHHhhhh and what do we do about rain in any event??? ...great question there Sleeper

On my Cobalt, I first used the rubber seal that came with the GMPP air box which actually didn't seal against the hood. So I added a foam gasket to the hood using self-adhesive closed cell foam strip from the hardware store and building up the layers until I had it as thick as needed. It looked almost factory when finished. As for water, I drove that thing through downpours and had no water injestion problems at all. In fact, the filter stayed relatively dry. Even drive-through car washes had no effect.

I would think with that small an opening any water that did make in there would be vaporized by airflow and used as a knock retardant.....( ever wonder why they run better on cool wet days?)

Well I am sure this question has been asked and answered a 1000 times on here but here goes...
Is the GMPP intake still available? I have searched the internet and have had no luck finding it. If anyone knows where to get one, let me know.
Thanks...
Disregard this post.. I found it. Damn they don't want anything for them do they?

Save time and head scratchin,go buy an SS if you want more air. Or find a way to put on a super charger and then try not to scatted parts down the road. This is a style car, not a frigging hot rod.
