Is there much difference between the 2.2 & 2.4

Well i went back to the dealer today and they let me take off my rear sway bar that i put on my 2007 HHR,so i can home and put it on my new 2008HHR LT2,it sure mades a difference.i thought thr 2.4 would have a little more get up and go than the 2.2 i had in my other car,i can't notice to much more differense. So i ordered a CGS Motorsports intake stystem from STREET PROS FOR $192.15 with free shipping.i here this is a good performing stystem,i know it sure looks good.Well i wan't yall to let me what you think?? is there much a difference between the two in performance between the 2.2 and the 2.4?

I have been told that when you run premium fuel in the 2.4L, you get better performance and better gas milage. I've been running 87 octane in my 2.4L since new because I'm looking for an economy vehicle rather than a performace vehicle. The suggested fuel economy gain wasn't offset by the higher price of premium fuel.

No difference at low RPM, but when you hit 3,500 the VVT kicks in and you really feel the power surge.

CGS? If you like the look, great, but only the butt dynos can claim any kind of power increase. 5 HP plus or minus is no real gain or loss, so it's basically $200 to look pretty and sound louder.

WELL I PUT A FEW MILES ON IT NEW YEARS DAY,DROVE TO THE COAST TO EAT AND PLAY SOME SLOTS (i lost),so i got 26mpg. TRAVLING AT
70-75 mph.SO THAT IS NOT TO BAD,I NOW HAVE 409 MILES ON IT.WHEN I GOT BACK HOME I REFILLED MY TANK WITH THE HI TEST GAS($$$$$)
YOU CAN REALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE,IT RUNS A LOT BETTER,I CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN POWER AND SPEED.I ONLY PUT ABOUT 7000 MILES ON MY CAR A YEAR SO THE EXTRA COST OF THE HI TEST IS WORTH IT TO ME.WITH THAT EXTRA POWER AND THE REAR SWAY BAR I AM DOING GREAT.CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE NEW CGS INTAKE SYSTEM ON IT,(wow-wow) NOW BAD FOR A OLD HOT RODER(age 64 ) ALWAYS LIKE NICE CARS,PUT ON THEM WHAT I LIKED,I HAD ALL KIND OF CARS IN MY LIFE,FROM 1956 VETTS,57 CHEVS,TO HOT RODS,BUT THESE LITTLE CARS ARE JUST FUN TO DRIVE,NICE TO LOOK AT,PLUS IT HAS ALL THE GOOD STUFF THE OLD ONES NEVER HAD,LIKE AIR. CONDITION,SUN ROOF,AND A LOT MORE.I SURE HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING AS MUCH FUN WITH THERES AS I AM HAVING WITH MINE...AND GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WITH TELLING EVERYONE OF ANY PROBLEMS,GOOD OR BAD,AND THE HOW TO WHICH ARE GREAT TO READ..

7000 miles per year?? I have put almost 6K on mine since july... Do you have a garage full of cars? How do you get away with not driving... I think I spend as much time behind the wheel as i do in bed.... lol..

Iam not sure how what a sway bar does.. can you elaborate?

You will not notice a difference on a car with that low a mileage. New motors are tight and require break-in miles. Also it is not good to be hard on a new motor for that same reason. Be nice to it now and it will last much longer. I drove both the 2.2 and 2.4 cars and decided on the 2.4 as I could tell the difference at higher rpm as hhrcrafty said. My 07 really comes on after 4000 rpm and I am getting 27 mpg with 87 octane, that includes some city driving and 10 minute warm ups in sub-freezing weather.

+1

The thing that really cracks me up sometimes are all the 2.2 owners who say there's no real difference they can "feel" between the 2.2 and 2.4, but when they throw that CGS intake under the hood they can sure "feel" a lot more power now!

Most dealers tell you to take it easy for the first 500 miles. I dont know what the other Forum members use for oil but I use Amsoil. I have an 05 Harley V-Rod that is water cooled and the first summer I had it my cooling fans always kicked on during city driving, since using the Amsoil for 2 years my fans have only come on 3 times, all 3 times as I pulled into my driveway after some slow city driving, so I was sold on it as far as its ability for my engine to run cooler. I run a 12 month, 25000 mile formula in my daily driver cars as I drive at least 700 miles a week so it saves me money in the long run.
