Sandblasted rear fenders

Sandblasted rear fenders
After giving our new 06 HHR a good bath today I discovered that the rear fender overlays were sandblasted thru the clear coat and look like hell. I'm going to the dealer today to see what they can do.
Has anyone had a problem or submitted a warrenty claim over this?
I don't have running boards and they didn't suggest mud flaps for the winter.

Take the TSB with you when you go for the repair, and A good suggestion is add the running boards, mud flaps and leave the plastic protector in place..
I am a been there, done that..

I had the dealer repaint mine under the TSB and the bodyshop did a lousy job and the condition was back within three hundred miles...As a lifelong car guy and a trained and experienced bodyman I knew better than to have someone else work on my vehicle, so while I am pianting my grille mirroe backs and door handles I will repaint the lower paortion of my HHR and know that it is done thew way that I want...with that and using the longer factory mudflaps I should be cool...I still do not want the running boards enough to pay otu of my pocket for them after the fact...

Here's the TSB info...
06-08-51-002 APR 06 Body - Paint/Body Damage On Rocker Panels
I got that info from here
2006 HHR Link: http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/0611bs_en.html
2007 HHR Link: http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/0711bs_en.html
They will paint the area once and suggest running boards...but they are at customer cost. I got mine at 1000 miles and had minimal damage and this was before the TSB came out. Dealer charged me $445 option cost for boards and $100 to install.

The 2007 models in Canada come with running boards as standard equipment.
I have about 7,000 kms (4,200 miles) on mine and only have light sandblasting on the protectors. If the weatherman cooperates, I'll be putting the running boards on this weekend.
