Well it's only been a week since the HHR SS has been officially announced and now it suddenly got quiet around here.

What the heck I'm really excited about this thing, so how would you tweak it and what would you ask Bob Lutz to do?

Me, I would tell him that they should offer a second automatic transmission choice; the buyer could pay a little extra and get something that would handle 260HP. No one should have to suffer a 25HP drop off just because they'd rather not shift anymore, or take up shifting if they don't already know how. 25HP is a big price to pay to not have to lift that left leg. I oughta know I've been driving a Z28 6-speed for the last nine years in some pretty serious traffic and I'm ready to rest the limb.

Car and Drivel magazine said it best:
"Once it gets a grip, GM says the HHR SS should be able to go 0-to-60 in 6.3 seconds... There’s also a four-speed auto, but overall power drops to 235 horsepower if it’s fitted. So not only do you get the boring transmission, but you also get a horsepower penalty—do you really need us to tell you to skip it?"

Oh yeah I would certainly ask him to make it in a certain color (maybe a Spring Special Edition SS) and also offer a beige option for the SS seats.

So what would you ask the man?

I would demand a white SS

What I would like to see in the HHR SS:

1. A stand alone navigation system with a screen so you can actually see where you are going and have traffic updates, all without having to pay an outrageous monthly fee.

2. Bluetooth connection for my cell phone (like most other auto makers have). With a bluetooth connection for a cell phone, you are able to answer calls made to your bluetooth cell phone with your car. With the current OnStar system, you MUST have a Verizon wireless seperate line of service for your car (with a different phone number and added fee) or you have to puchase a minute package at crazy prices. I don't want another phone number at an added cost!

3. All colors available for the HHR should be available for the HHR SS (I would LOVE a Cardinal Red Metallic one); I also wish yellow was an option

4. Automatic transmission option that takes advantage of all 260 HP, without needing to be detuned

Other than that, everything looks pretty sweet!

GPS is great, I just got a Garmin 660. However, from what I'm hearing, GPS indash systems in the long run hurt the resale value of a car, since the technology advances so fast on them that by the time you're ready to sell the car a few years down the road, they are obsolete.

But I like your other ideas, esp bluetooth. But at least if you get a garmin, you can hook your cell up to it and use it that way, no extra cost. You have to get a bluetooth-enabled GPS unit however. It is a sweet feature to talk through it handsfree.

I drive around with 370HP all day long and I never had a boost gauge before. Looks really cool! Nice touch Bob!

I would beg and plead him not to kill the HHR before it's time, and please do not take away the retro look with face lifts. Let this beautiful car run it's course. They have a great little car here, just don't ruin it.

Sales figures will prolly determine what Chevy will eventually do with the HHR. If they continue to sell well, then I would think they would leave the status quo.
