Okay; let's keep our minds razor sharp while we are waiting for the HHR SS to hit the dealerships! In my state (Wisconsin), you are able to put personalized license plates on hold for up to two years, so I would like to try and get something on hold while I'm waiting. In Wisconsin's case, you get up to seven characters (letters or numbers ONLY) with no more than two spaces. Let's brainstorm together and see what our best ideas are! (Please don't forget to put an explaination next to your idea incase people can't figure out what it says.)

I'll go first:

SPR SPRT: "Super Sport"

SPR FAST: "Super fast"

BLU FLSH: "Blue Flash"

08 HHR SS: "2008 HHR Super Sport"

If I went with an SS...mine would be

well FASTR'n YOU would work great until you line up at a stoplihgt with oh lets say a Z06, or even a car like mine a lightly modified LS1 Z28. Then I would feel a llittle foolish, but that's just me. :D

Okay. I sent in my top three choices to my state DMV to hopefully get one of them on hold. My three choices are...

ADIOSS - "Goodbye" in Spanish with an extra S. My wife and I thought this was pretty clever being able to tie together the "SS", the fact that the car is built in Mexico, and "I'm going to pass you and say goodbye"

RED SLED - Red classic / custom looking car, similar to "lead sled"

I hate the plate they use in SC for the personalized tags. If they offered it with this (standard plate), I would get this. It is non HHR specific. :lol:

TRUE STORY: I saw a Viper on the freeway a few months ago on my way to work. I followed it for a while and noticed the license plate read, "FKN FAST." :eek:

Hmmm, I thought... how did this guy get away with that? The Calif. DMV does not allow "FKN" to be on any license plate for obvious reasons. Well lo and behold, the guy not only got off at my same exit, but as I drove to work he actually pulled into my same parking lot. So I pulled up next to the guy and asked him how got a license plate that said that. Turns out it doesn't say "FKN FAST" but "EKN FAST"... he had installed a black license plate frame that had a very thick bottom and it covered up the bottom stroke of the "E," creating the appearance of an "F."

Now if that were me, no way would I have license plate such as his. No. 1, just driving a Viper is going to get the cop's attention anyway, and No. 2, seeing FKN FAST on the license plate is just going to piss him off. Might as well order a license plate that says, "RYT ME UP!" :rof:

Crap. You confirmed what I just started wondering about recently. I want a plate that is more universally understood. I can see your point about the younger folks not getting it. Crap. It might be time to go back to the drawing board!

I just checked the Chevy HHR site and could only find 2007 info, so obviously no SS. Am I looking in the wrong place, or what?

I am too attached to The Flash to trade him in, but I would love to do some upgrades and find out more about the SS. The quicker steering, for one. And what did they do to the suspension? I would want the rear disk brakes. I would prefer to work on the bigger 2.4 motor-turbo or super- since it is starting with more HP to begin with than the 2.0. With my intake, exhaust, and computer flash, according to my G-Timer, I should have about 213. And the 2.4 has more torque than the 2.0 which is good for city driving.

We got our SS a week ago. In Illinois you can request 3 different plates (in case your first and second choices aren't available) and we don't know yet if we got any of our requests. Should be hearing soon though. Here's what we asked for for our Vicotory Red SS:

1st choice: R HHR SS
2nd choice: RATS SS (hubby's initials are RAT)
3rd choice: R Red SS

As soon as we find out, I'll let ya know!

When I trade in my 06 for an SS this fall, I'll be back in Jersey and I'll try and get NVRNFHP (never enough horsepower)...it's kind of in the light of Tim the Tool Man Taylor. Question though...if you have a black SS and get HHRSS for a personalized tag, can it be also read as 'hearse'?:lol:
