View Full Version : HHR against HONDA ELEMENT
customclass 03-07-2006, 07:25 PM This was classic today, I was driving home this evening and this kid pulled up next to me at a light and i saw him checking out my ride. I guess I took off a little quick when the light changed cause he floored it past me thinking I was racing him. At the next light I saw him and his buddy laughing and looking at my car again so at this light I hammered it and so did he. This was the first time I got into the gas in this car and man it perked up and ran! Needless to say I smoked him so bad at the next light I made it through on green and he hit red. I cant wait to do a few performance mods on this thing to really smoke the ricers! Just got excited and wanted to share :D
captain howdy 03-07-2006, 07:35 PM I had a similar experience with an xB.

SIHHR 03-07-2006, 10:07 PM I think the HP is more on the HHR then the Element and XB
SoCalHHR 03-07-2006, 10:08 PM Yes, but the THWAF is apparently higher on the Element.
txsman2930 03-08-2006, 11:46 AM The Elements and xB's are not cars. They're tombs on wheels. Hell, you can go to UPS stick a shipping label on the outside of one of those things and ship yourself because they're just boxes anyway. Only difference is that it makes it easier to load and unload them off the delivery trucks because the boxes come with wheels.
cowboybornlate 03-08-2006, 01:25 PM I've been enjoying wastin the PT Losers myself!

adamlowery 03-08-2006, 02:26 PM I love just being able to get on the highway at 80. My old car with the pedal floored would get on around 60.

Wow. Well, feels good to upgrade the hampsters under the engine, huh.
O6ChevyHHR 03-16-2006, 07:49 PM to hell with the element and scion losers.
mrbowtie 03-28-2006, 06:30 PM Check out the crash test results, the HHR I believe gets all 5's.
The Xb and honda gets much worse.
Only honda can convince people to buy a car without paint on 2/3's of the body. And the scion looks like a tin can ready to collapse.
My wife's friend bought a Xb for almost 17k, I could not believe it, the Xb has only 103hp. My jet ski has 145hp, but people are lining up to buy that piece of crap and toyota is laughing all the way to the bank.
Alzonie 07-07-2006, 05:57 PM to hell with the element and scion losers.
If you look up "Ugly" in the Dictionary there's a picture of these two shipping crates on wheels!

Hell, if you look up shipping crates, there's a picture of those two shipping crates on wheels.
Dark Dreamz 07-07-2006, 10:01 PM I love to spank some of the cars around here. Kids thinking their rides are all that when they look like some one just flushed it down the toilet lol. I have raced a few cars prob 2 or more every weekend. Hey I dont have any engine mods yet(key word YET) but man that I gear does one heck of a job. The HHR is getting respect around Upstate NY. I want to do more to the engine as soon as its availible. I only have the 2.2 and I am super impressed with it. One of my buddies has a 5.0 mustang and is VERY impressed on how I stay right with him and loves the take off of it. Sits him right back in the seat. Lets get some REAL engine power add ons here u know differant cams turbos etc. HINT HINT socalHHR (Mike) lol
KNEZRYD 07-08-2006, 12:47 AM I ran one of those little mini coopers yesterday. I had HER by a car length as we hit 110,:steering: ... look ahead.... there went seaworld! That's right, HAD her. Rev limiter kicks in  ... there went the mini! :censored:  Son of a motherless goat! Sure was fun though...:thumb:
SoCalHHR 07-08-2006, 01:52 AM Yeah, - we've got to ditch the rev limiter Kenny...soon!
James06 07-27-2006, 09:49 PM I actually looked at the Element before the HHR. After seeing the HHR, I still couldn't make up my mind, so I test-drove the Element to the Chevy dealership and parked them side by side. The only advantage the Element had there was more room in the back seats. But I don't have to ride in the back seat. There was no comparison in a side by side test. The Honda dealer was really ticked when I took the Element back and told him. The Chevy dealer offered to take it back for me. I should have let him.:D

Now that's a funny story. Still laughing over here.
HHR PNOY 07-27-2006, 11:32 PM they let you take the car out by yourself? You'll never see that in california.
FinkHHR 07-28-2006, 02:17 AM The first HHR I test drove (here in Calif.) the salesman pulled it out from the storage lot and sent my wife and I on our way. No forms, no copy of my license, nothing. As we pulled out of th dealer I looked at her and remarked that they did not have our full names, numbers, or any other data...maybe I should have kept on going in that silverstone special.
Oh well. I bought, a dark silver metallic HHR the next day...
James06 07-28-2006, 08:28 AM they let you take the car out by yourself? You'll never see that in california.
Yeah, I guess I look pretty trustworthy. It would turn me off to a dealer down here if they insisted on going with us. Most don't even offer to go.
fenris222 07-28-2006, 08:35 AM Well, living in Detroit, most dealers pass on going along for the test drive...fear factor! lol My dealer was totally cool on letting me test drive the HHR. I ultimately ordered mine, but I drove everyone they had on the lot.
crowbar 08-08-2006, 05:44 PM I had a similar experience with an xB.
 i was considering one of those before i bought my car, they cant get out of their own way
Daffy 08-20-2006, 01:57 AM i race my hhr sometimes and i have beat a V8 2006 mustang and many others i love my car and its all stock
JHPrez 08-20-2006, 03:04 AM I also looked at a Xtra Box before the HHR. Glad I checked out the HHR before going thru with the XB purchase. There was no comparison between the two.
My salesman was great. Let me take a different one home three nights in a row and let me keep one over the weekend! That was the one I ended up buying. He said he wanted me to be sure that I picked the one I was most happy with. In addition, after the purchase he gave me $500 worth of free accessories!
There was one thing I wish I could have gotten. There was a dealer in McKinney Texas that was authorized to extend the factory warranty to 5 years, 100k miles. Some kind of arrangement they had with GM. That would have been sweet but I probably won't put 36k miles on mine in 5 years anyway.

ROTFLMAO! :rof: And then you woke up right? :poke: If you have the 2.4 you have 172 HP and 165 lb. ft. of tq. in a front wheel drive vehicle vs. 300 HP and 320 lb. ft. of tq. in a rear wheel drive vehicle. I won't even point out the difference if you have the 2.2. :red: I don't care how good of a driver you are there is no way the HHR is going to beat a Mustang GT! ;)
El_Guapo 08-20-2006, 10:37 AM ROTFLMAO! :red: I don't care how good of a driver you are there is no way the HHR is going to beat a Mustang GT! ;)
+1
I would not dare to think that my HHR would even come off the line within a car length of my Mustang. Its just not going to happen.
captain howdy 08-20-2006, 10:48 AM An LX Mustang is a little more believable. The current V6 puts out 210 HP and 240 lb. ft. of tq. plus. The Mustang is a couple of hundred pounds heavier than the HHR also. So if you couple a bad driver in the Mustang with a good driver in the HHR I might believe it but it's still kind of a stretch.

+2 did he know you were racing?
ymerej_mortsdnil 02-25-2007, 10:55 PM I think Z-Man's wife has a new '07 Element...maybe the 2 of them could do a little drag racin'...;)
I used to want a Honda Element, 'til I saw the HHR!!!
krishaynes 03-10-2007, 07:49 AM I considered the whole Element vs. HHR thing prior to my purchase as well. Maybe in the States it's different, but here in Canada I got an HHR for +$5000 cheaper than the Element.
It also helps that the HHR doesn't look like ass  . Oh yeah, my wife makes fun of every Element she sees as being an eyesore - still the only vehicle she looks at with disdain.
Z-Man 03-10-2007, 11:01 AM Well hey guys I see some one is Talking about the Honda Element. I read some were were he paid less for the HHr then the Element well let me tell you this. MY wife just purchased a 2007 Honda Element EX, AT w/4x4 and we were given the sticker of $23,705.00
On Feb 12 2007 I was sitting in My Doctor's Office waiting to see him and I was reading a Book, and guess what I seen when I turned the Page, The 2007Honda Element so I turned to the front of the book to find the name and it was the Feb Issue of the Consumer Report, It was giving the Specs of the Element and vehicles that are the same or equal to the Element.
Now the Consumer Report stated in this book for Feb 2007 how to purchase a vehicle and how to get the price for the vehicle and if you call the 1-800
phone number if you wanted to find out what the Dealership paid for that vehicle. So the next thing I did was go to Honda.com and guess what the Element was some how listed in there system they asked for my zip code and hit enter and the Dealership came up and also the price for the vehicle.
Once I registered on line with the Dealership they contacted us and they had to sell us the vehicle for what the Consumer report had given us and the price was $18,000.00. So now my wife now has a New 2007 Honda Element fully loaded I mean everything, she then told them that she was going to trade in her 2003 Honda Element and they gave her $8,000.00 for a trade in.
Her's was the 1st Element that was made 2003. You know you will not find any Honda 's at a Renta Car place at all , Why is that. I love my HHr but Honda just never really deals when it comes to a vehicle purchase. So what I am saying is this, Yes you can get a HHr cheaper then an Element but what are you getting I know some one on this site who purchased a 2006 HHr for $14,000.00 brand new but there was nothing in it, and if you see it now its Outstanding he wanted to put everything on his HHr him self. So you get what you pay for.
The Honda Element has 166hp 2.4 DOHC valve i-VTEC 4-Cylinder Engine and that has a 4x4 the HHr has what about 177hp and its front wheel drive.
My wife laugh's at the HHr in the winter here in Chicago when her Element just keeps on driving and watching the HHr slowly tries to get thru the snow. It is all what you make it. I love my HHr 2LT and my wife loves her Element but I do like driving her Element in the Winter.

hhrmajesty 03-10-2007, 11:16 AM A couple of years ago a guy I know bought an Element. Every time his friends saw an Element they would call him on his cell phone and tell him they just saw him on the road. Of course most of the time he was home or nowhere near where they said he was. They would tell him it had to be him...there couldn't be anybody else that would buy anything so ugly.   He didn't keep that thing long. BTW...my wife also thinks they are "cute"...thank God she likes the HHR better. :D
