St. Patrick's Day is good luck my BAHOOTY! I had an interesting morning. This little stick of a butthead hit me on the way to work. Smashed right into the left rear of my HHR. MY BABY! Then the craphead tried to blame ME for the accident. ummm...DON'T THINK SO! I have some pictures. I'll be posting them today.

Sorry about that :( Hope everything work out for you in getting it fixed. Did the cops agree with you that it was his fault?

I called 911, but the cops did not show, and the other guy wouldn't wait for the cops to show up because he "had a plane to catch" whatever. I got all his information though, and will file a report with the police dept this morning, and send it to my insurance company. He was pulling out of his apt complex and I was on the far right lane. He swerved his Grand Cherokee right into me. It's a quiet street, especially at 6:40 in the morning. He had no reason to be in a rush.

I've never let anyone leave until the cops got there. Especially if they are the ones who hit me.

You can't always control other peoples actions. ;) Believe me I have some pretty negative results when I have tried in the past. :D

I would just make sure I had plenty of pictures of both cars and the location. If you were in Florida your insurance would be paying since it wasn't investigated at the scene and he says its your fault..Like I said Florida is geared to all the damn old people. No ofense to anyone here.I'm just talking about the Crown Vic driving can't see over the steering wheel people.

Did you know that most DUI's given during the day are over 65.That is some scary ish right there.

That's scary. I do have plenty of pics of the damage to my car, and I also took pictures of the area where the accident happened from several angles. I tried to get pics of his cherokee, but as soon as he got my information he took off out of there. In Texas, if you're hit anywhere in the rear portion of the vehicle, it's automatically the other driver's fault.

Hope with the pics you got that helps your case. In Texas can he get in trouble for not waiting for the cops? With it being on a street I would think he has to wait, for file a report. Maybe that will help your case.

I'm counting on the fact that with my pics and my police report, he hasn't a leg to stand on. I'm heading to a few body shops too to start getting estimates of the damage that he cause.

Yeah. and I'm not paying for it, but said it's going to take about a week and a half to fix it once they start. It's a small body shop close to where I live, but they do very good work. So it will be worth the wait.

I thought it would actually be in the rear and not on the side. I wouldn't worry to much about the cost of repairs seeing as how you'll probably only have to pay your deductible. All you would be doing is trying to save your insurance company money. Who cares about cost when they are covering most of the bill, I only care about quality. ;) I myself would just take it to the best shop in town and just let the insurance cover the bill. That way you know you'll be getting the best repair possible. That's my technique for anytime I have needed to get my car fixed after an accident.

I don't know about Texas, but in Georgia, that is called leaving the scene of an accident. Trying to catch a plane and leaving the scene shows he must have been in a mighty big hurry. Have your insurance company file charges against him for damages and take as many pictures as possible.

Ouch. As long as you are allright. It would of looked better if you called the cops and waited for them to show. By him leaving its fleeing a scene of an accident. He had to be in a rush becasue he had an flight to catch. That would of been more favorable on your side.

Thanks for the advice everybody. As long as his insurance pays for the damage to my car and for my rental, it's fine with me. The sooner this all goes away, the better.

When I got into a wreck with the 1st HHR we had it sent to a dealer and none of the other body shops around. This dealer not only is one of the best body shops around in cincy but progressive has a guy onsite there. it was kind of a win win for us because they got the car on monday, totalled it on wednesday, check in my hand friday. We also figured if they were going to try and fix it why not have a dealer order parts and try to get them in quicker than a body shop trying to get parts for a dealer. its all about cutting out the middle man sometimes right?

I carry a $5 disposable 35mm camera in the glove box of all of our cars. In the case of an accident, I will be able to take pictures of the other car (includling license plate), accident scene before cars are moved and other important things. Luckily I haven't used one of these cameras, but they are always ready, plus come in handy once in awhile for other pictures.

Back in the day we had long cords on our house phones and if we walked around that cord would get wraped around us, so when you were on the phone then, you were really on the phone and then some.

Well, guys and gals. I just dropped my HHR at the auto body shop. The other guy's insurance finally came around and is paying for all damages as well as my rental car...A FREAKIN' MINI VAN! Oh well, I'll have my baby back soon hopefully. They said it would take anywhere from 7 to 10 days to finish the work. So now I wait.....Missin' my buddy already. :(

I'm so happy for you. Why should you have to pay for someone else's mistake. It might sux to drive the mini-van around. However your not paying for the damage. Use the money that you would of spent for something nice for your baby once you get it back.

Yeah. My sentiments exactly. I'm thinking of adding an air intake kit for my HHR once I get it back for starters, and possibly a new exhaust system.
