Hello to all HHR enthusiasts in Arizona,

HHRBOUTIQUE is packed in our motor home and trailer and headed to Queen Creek, AZ for the rest of the Winter. If the Arizona HHR's put together any meet and greets or other events, please keep us in the loop. We would love to come out and meet you all.

Also, if anyone wants to see and feel our line of Chrome and other products for the HHR, please feel free to contact us.

We are in Texas now and wandering west with scheduled arrival on or about January 13.

Happy Crusin'
Bill and Linda

Looks like I'll have my HHR for a while longer as well. May as well keep it till she's paid off. Only 2 more years left anyway.

Now I just gotta find some lowering springs again. This stock ride height is killing me... :D

Thanks for the interest. We're running 3 days behind schedule due to some botched motor home repairs at the Freightliner dealer in Fort Worth. We're in Carlsbad, NM visiting friends and planning to tour the Caverns on Sunday on our way to Queen Creek. We have a car show on the 18-19th in Scottsdale, then we are free to set something up.

Please, someone take the initiative to set a date, time and place so we can meet you all.

May want to rething that weekend. That sunday is super bowl and lots of people will be out and about. If nothing else need to stay away from the west side of the valley.
With it being super bowl weekend should be lots of things to do if you wanted to head to that side of town. I think staying on the Mesa chandler QC area would be best

As far as location, we would recommend San Tan Flat on Hunt Highway at Ellsworth Rd in Queen Creek. It's near our location and the venue offers everything anyone would want. Great food and even meeting rooms if that is desired. We can help set that up.

Please move the discussion to a date. The location of the event is easy to figure out. Someone please post a poll on Saturdays in February that would be best. We are still open for all of them at this time. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

I don't know if I can do this because the facility has changed and downsized so much it's not recognizable BUT,

If people are interested I can try to arrange a tour of the GM Desert Proving Ground. As I said, because of the changes, I don't even know if they do this any more.

Anyhow, if interested let me know relatively soon......Saturday will NOT be a regularly scheduled work day for them and a sponsor will need to escort.....and I'll assume the date of Feb. 9th.

Oh, a couple of parameters.....no cameras inside the property, no weapons, no alcohol (fuel is o'k:smile: ), no kids under 18.

O'k my fellow HHRonians.....

As of this day, our tour of the GM Desert Proving Ground, Mesa AZ, is approved for February 9th at around noon. This is pending any last minute "covert" testing by them and/or any of the 3-4 tenants of the facility. At that point, the tour will need to be cancelled.

Because Saturday is a non-work day, I may be conducting the tour personally. However, the Facility Director is attempting to locate an Engineer or Senior Project Technician who may need to work that day. If that is the case, that person will be our guide and moderator (which will prove more interesting than me).

If you are wishing to attend, I will need the first and last name of ALL attendees (the birth rights or birth certificate to your first born son, the title of your home and HHR and your ever lasting gratitude....this is a joke folks:D ). But I really do need the names for the Visitor Pass. Oh, we are limited to a TOTAL of 12 people (including me) for the 12 passenger van.

Again, no weapons, no cameras, no alcohol, no kids under 18.

The GM DESERT PROVING GROUND is located at 13303 S. Ellsworth Road, Mesa.

Get your names in...and I will keep you updated .

Hi Snoop,

Keep reading this thread and wish I was there (its cold here) and could go on the tour. Next years

Definitely not a big deal but something keeps coming to mind is that your invitation is maybe kind of hidden in the "HHRBOUTIQUE Heading to Arizona for the Winter" thread and would get the visibility that it disserves if it had its own thread in the "Regional - US > South Mountain listings"? Or maybe not, what do I know.

Snoopy

Thanks Ray....

Next year....I would offer the same tour to you but, I'm afraid, the GM Desert Proving Ground is closing the facility here (civilization moved into the area) and moving to the Military Proving Ground in Yuma. So, that would probably be out.

Might be to late to start a new thread. Besides doesn't it indicate as a new entry in an existing thread? I would think that would be attention enough, if someone already expressed an interest. But, as you said....hell, what do I know.  :red:

OK Arizona HHRonians....

I have submitted our names for the tour and suggested about Noon for the time. I'm waiting for a response from the Director, which will probably be tomorrow (Thursday). Once I get the approval and any additional info, WE can plan accordingly. The list is as follows....

Me, D, Spaz and Mom, Bill & Linda and friend....for a total of 7.

I still would like to suggest lunch afterward. HHR Boutique suggested the San Tan Flat bar/restuarant which I would second. It's directly south of the Proving Ground.

We think that is great. Lunch at San Tan will be fun. After lunch, we would like to invite everyone back to our rolling store to see and touch all the stainless and chrome HHR parts we have. It's only about 6 miles from San Tan and the road might be a bit (or a lot) dusty.

We are parked at the home of one of the ultimate PT Cruiser enthusiasts. If you come, you will be able to see "Windspirit", a PT Cruiser that has been featured on the cover of Cruiser Quarterly Magazine and has won best in show at virtually every PT Cruiser show all over the country. We're not trying to convert anyone. Our business started with the PT. PT Cruisers and HHRs have the same heritage and purpose. Seeing this car might give some idea of what can be done with an HHR.

Linda has already decided that we need to get an HHR to go with our PT show car. It will be a panel and the theme and design are already decided. The only thing we need is for more HHR parts sales (which are growing each month) and then a bigger Motor Home and 2 car trailer. (anyone want to make a donation? lol)

Looking forward to Saturday,
Bill and Linda

OK we are set for the tour of the GM Desert Proving Ground.

The tour is scheduled for NOON and will be conducted/escorted by the Managers Secretary (Deb, neat person:thumb: ).

I indicated we will "muster" in the front parking lot of the Proving Ground at 11:45 so we should ALL be ready at NOON for the tour. She is using a van to provide the transportation around the facility. I am not sure what will be "off limits"....many times....the garages. Sometimes certain road systems. We'll find out when we get there (remember GM is NOT the only tenant at this facility, any longer. Some of it is leased/rented to other users...I believe Harley Davidson is one).

Again....bring a camera, if you wish an opportunity with the GM Proving Ground sign, BUT YOU MAY NOT TAKE THE CAMERA INSIDE OF THE PROPERTY. NO guns, NO alcohol, NO other guests at this time. Sorry to keep repeating this.....but you would be surprised sometimes, about people. And Deb will ask again when we enter.

I SUGGEST we all, EXCEPT for HHR BOUTIQUE, meet at the suggested Toys R Us no later than 11:15.... then travel as a group to the Proving Ground. We should get there in about 15-20 minutes.

Because he is coming from an area just south of the Proving Ground, HHR BOUTIQUE can meet us, in the front of the Proving Ground, between 11:30-11:45.

Tour for about an hour and then, as suggested, lunch at San Tan Flats.

Any questions or suggestions....post them. I'll be on an off the forum all day.

Jason and Mandy......you have the directions to Toys R Us, right? If you are late the address to the Proving Ground is posted in this thread (bottom of post #39). The location is about 1 mile east and 5 miles south of the "Toys" location.

Just a few notes to the Arizona HHRonians and HHR BOUTIQUE who had accompanied me on a tour of the GM Desert Proving Ground.

SPECIAL THANKS goes to Bob, Facility Senior Manager, for allowing this rare opportunity and Deb, Bob's Admin. Assistant, for taking the time for the tour and providing insight on how this facility operates.

Thanks to the member's who were able to accompany me and provide enjoyable conversation and insight. I hope you enjoyed the tour and have some appreciation for what GM and the associated Divisions try to accomplish when they produce a vehicle such as the HHR.

Unfortunately, we were unable to view and enter the Durability Road. That could have provided some interest in the scheduled "abuse" these vehicles sustain before and during their entry into the consumer market. But at least, you were able to see SOME of the 110 miles of test road system and some of the 5000 acres of this facility (I also know a few of you observed some "things" you weren't suppose to see;) ).

I would like to thank Roger for the tour of his home and garage, of which I am absolutely jealous of (the guy has a VERY large multi-car attached garage with his own hydraulic "4 point" lift).

Here is some of the photos that were taken of the group....
