captain howdy 03-28-2006, 01:49 PM Huh? What exact info are you looking for? I have replaced all of my speakers including the tweeters and sub. This week I am going to add a mono amp to drive my sub. There are plenty of photos of my install all over this site, including a how to. There are also shots of SoCalHHRs set up and Navyflyer11s setup on this. Use the search and you can find lots of photos. ;)
adamlowery 03-28-2006, 02:18 PM Congrats CH. I think that is hands down the nicest way you've ever told someone about the search function on this site. :0
O6ChevyHHR 03-28-2006, 02:49 PM he dose have a nice side after all, but at night he turns evil , Jp CH!

Skatetheglobe 03-28-2006, 04:13 PM I would take some pics of my 12 in the spare tire compartment but it is by no means pretty.
captain howdy 03-28-2006, 04:37 PM I would take some pics of my 12 in the spare tire compartment but it is by no means pretty.
You should take pics anyways. :) I would be interested in seeing it even though it may not be the prettiest install. ;)
Skatetheglobe 03-28-2006, 04:41 PM Ok I'll do it now..
captain howdy 03-28-2006, 04:44 PM I think you are the first one of to use the spare tire compartment for a sub install. :one:
Skatetheglobe 03-28-2006, 04:47 PM Its ugly..but just for now and thanks to those rubber bushing on the shelf its doesn't rattle..

captain howdy 03-28-2006, 04:50 PM That doesn't look too bad. :) Carpet the box and clean up the wiring then you'll be all good.
Skatetheglobe 03-28-2006, 05:13 PM well I have 2 10's I want to put in there instead but I don't know if I wanna try and make a fiberglass box (never done it) or just build it outta wood..
snova031 03-28-2006, 06:53 PM If you don't mind losing the spare...that location is perfect for a 'glass job ;)
SIHHR 03-28-2006, 06:56 PM Good luck with the box. I never did fiberglass either. But one day i'm willing to try
AlienHHR 03-28-2006, 07:49 PM Its ugly..but just for now and thanks to those rubber bushing on the shelf its doesn't rattle..

ng8650 03-28-2006, 08:49 PM It looks like a bomb.

Lefty613 03-28-2006, 08:57 PM yo SoCal it looks like a sealed box... there is no port..
SoCalHHR 03-28-2006, 08:58 PM I asked where the sound comes out because I don't see a speaker!
If there's no port, the speker should be visible...somewhere! :D
Lee3333 03-28-2006, 10:28 PM I was thinking the exact same thing
Skatetheglobe 03-28-2006, 10:45 PM Its a sealed downfire box I built for my van but I cut it in half. Its to big to fit all the way down so its kinda wedged to where I have like 3" of room between the speaker and the floor..
SIHHR 03-28-2006, 11:29 PM It seems like the Box takes up a lot of space? Not to sound rude, but do you keep your chair either in the back seat or the rear of the car. Just curious
Skatetheglobe 03-29-2006, 12:20 AM I always have the rear seats down so if I ride by myself I just throw the chair in the back seat and if someone rides they put it in the hatch..The box is under the shelf in the spare tire compartment so it doesn't take up any room in the actual cargo area..
O6ChevyHHR 03-29-2006, 08:01 PM STG what size sub is that agin? I was thinkin of doing one 12 or two 10s in a little box that can be velcroed to the shelf and can have some wire slack under the shelf so if you raise the shelf you will still beable to use that room. What do you think of this idea, and which sub combo sounds better?
Skatetheglobe 03-29-2006, 08:04 PM Its a 12..I'm not sure if the shelf is strong enough to support a box..

Screw the shelf what about the velcro. :D
