What do y'all think? The ratings and reviews I've seen look pretty good. Just wondering if anyone's got some experience with these?

Yokohama builds a really nice tire with very little problems. Problem is they dont last very long, and dont have full depth tread sipes, which means you loose alot of wet traction with well over half tread. Try the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S. Its the best tire for the money and the handling is second to none.

I had Yokos on a car "of a different color". Really great traction, good handling characteristics, quiet running. The one and only thing I noticed was the traction went to hell when it rained (In Arizona we get little of the wet stuff). I attributed it to the usual first 15-20 minutes of rain when the oil in the surface "mixes" with the moisture, and makes it especially slippery. Could have been the tread and compound.

They do make a good tire, though....and I would probably look at them again after some careful research.

But, I am a Goodyear man at heart. Had them on every vehcile, since 1984. Got great service from them on a wide variety/types of vehicles. But, I'm a freak about tire maintenance, also.

I had a T4S on the car for a while. It was the first replacement tire I bought after my first flat. It seemed to be a good match for the other Firestones, but it only lasted about 30k. I have two of the OEMs left with 50k on them and I'll probably get 60k out of 'em. Wet and damp traction wasn't very good either.

If you're looking to spend that kind of scratch, check out Toyo and Michelin.

My mechanic of 21 years says they are EXCELLENT tires.

Don't get me wrong. Yokohama is an excellent tire. One of the top in worry free tires. But, (yea theres always a but) the technology they use is not near as advanced as Goodyear or Michelin. Yes it says "Computer Generated tread pattern" That just means the design of the tread was drawn by a computer program, the technology is still old. Its a fantastic tire for the money. My experience with ALL brands, Goodyear and Michelin have the most advanced technology in the industry. Yes you pay for that as well.

Thanks for opinions. I'll be making a decision in the next couple days. My wheels are just about done and should have then in a week or so.

for what it's worth, my Camaro has been sporting a set of BFG G-Force Sports, and i love them. have yet to have an issue, wet or dry, and she is a torquey little bugger. i'm strongly considering going to those on the SS once i kill off the OEMs.
