View Full Version : HHR vs Stang
NikiPowPez 04-20-2008, 04:59 AM And I have created a monster. Ever since my daughter saw the movie Cars, she has decided that when we are driving we ALWAYS have to be first. On the way home from my parents' tonight we pulled up to a stop sign and a Mustang turned and was in front of us. My little one started with, "Mommy, you have to catch them!" So, not wanting to disappoint my little girl, I dropped it into I and stepped on it. Tires barked and I took of. I caught the car and passed him. The whole time she is cracking up laughing. We came up to another stop sign, and the mustang was next to me. He revved the engine, we made eye contact and and nodded at each other (little one in the background laughing yelling do it again mommy!!). After the cross traffic went, we took off, I barely beat him. His nose was at my rear quarter panel. I was just hitting 70 when he backed down so I did. At the next stop sign he rolled down the passenger window and asked, "what do you have in that thing?" He didn't believe me when I told him it was a stock 2.4. I offered to go again, just for fun. He shook his head and turned left. I went straight and my little one was still laughing and begging me to go faster again. She is mommy's little girl. The stang was only a 6-cylinder, but still. I can say my HHR beat a stang!! :D
CHANCE 04-20-2008, 09:02 AM Geeeez, what is wrong with people now days?
Talk about "child endangerment"...........Do you realize what YOU could have caused to happen to your child doing stupid crap like that on the public streets!
You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself!

Oh stop whinning! If more people spent quality time with their kids like her, the prisons would not be so full.

monza 04-20-2008, 09:48 AM yeah... because all acceleration is considered racing... ?
not all of us can afford to race on a drag strip... so CHANCE - welcome. wanna race?
saltyfishguy 04-20-2008, 05:54 PM racing?.....down here flooring it to 70 from the stoplight is called "driving", gotta stay ahead of the lost tourists..
Belto 04-20-2008, 06:48 PM isnt 70 the speed limit? so whats wrong with getting there as fast as you can,, and at the same time spank a stang,, good for you and you lil one. nice to know that the hhr can hold itself well

Perhaps I should have clarified a bit. I'm not talking down town city driving. The area where I live is more rural than anything. The speed limit on the roads around me are 55-65mph. Flat roads, you can see for miles. It was a 4 lane road with a median. Neither of us were driving on the wrong side of the road. It's not like I was seeing how fast the car would go and bragging about doing 100+ mph with my kid in the car. I went to slightly above the speed limit, just a little bit quicker than I normally would, kind of like getting on the expressway. As saltyfishguy can probably tell you, down here you have to pretty much floor it on the on ramp so you don't get run over. I'm sorry if you feel that I was being irresponsible or endangering my child. I didn't post with the intention to start any arguments or anything like that.

There goes my idiot meter going off.
JACK-07 04-20-2008, 11:08 PM Seems like you created quite a bit of controversy.... LOL
Oh well from one young whipper snapper to another...
Way to go on the victory! I'm sure Rylee was having a blast so no harm done right!
I always love it when you blow by some one in your old school grocery go getter ... their look is priceless.... the term "dear in the headlights" comes to mind... LOL:yourock:
Chevy SS 04-22-2008, 01:07 AM If more people spent quality time with their kids like her, the prisons would not be so full.
Yeah... that's it...
There are other ways of spending time with your kids than putting their life in danger. If you want to race on a road, with traffic, as stated in the story, then be dumb and risk your own life, don't risk the life of others on the road and your kid.
Now if the freeway is 4 lanes, wide open, no traffic and you are alone in your car, feel free.
If more people spent more time racing other cars with their kids in the back then yes, the prison would not be as full, but the cemeteries would have a back log.
HipHotRod 04-22-2008, 10:50 AM Niki- Kudos to you for thinking it through. For those taking the time to talk smack, Take up Yoga, hug a freakin tree, whatever, chill outttttttt. My Dad was a professional drag racer back in the day and I remember sitting in one of our many hot rods, BELTED IN cheering on my Pop as he dusted someone on a SAFE place to heat em up a little.
Oh stop whinning! If more people spent quality time with their kids like her, the prisons would not be so full.
Yep - now the graveyards on the other hand....

LOL!!!!
saltyfishguy 08-29-2008, 12:43 PM r u serious? get over it...
ChevyMgr 08-29-2008, 01:11 PM r u serious? get over it...
I second that! Some people just like to keep twistng the knife after they stick it in.
FYI:
Origination of idiot was to describe a person who was a layman, or a person lacking professional skill.
Later definition is: A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.
Now it's used to just flat out degrade another person.
AaronSS 08-31-2008, 07:14 PM Good for you. Sounds like you and the little ones had alot of fun. My little brother loves to go out with me.
And for the people whining about child endangerment, please make sure you never talk on your cell phones behind the wheel with your child in the car. I'm quite sure you're putting your children in far more danger than she was accellerating to 70mph with her focus on the road where it belongs. Plank eyes.
Deuces 09-01-2008, 01:11 AM Don't feed the troll
Nice kill! Sounds like there was no danger and you were sensible about it!
:one: :steering: <-HHR Mustang ->
MOHHR 09-01-2008, 12:30 PM That's surprising... i drive a v6 mustang now and would never think that a HHR would beat it... :P
BigJHHR07 09-01-2008, 12:57 PM One thing I noticed was the people complaining don't even live here in Flordia. If they did they would see that down here if you don't run 70mph you will get your ass run over. Also our roads down here are pretty much wide open as far as the eye can see and atleast 4 lanes wide in most places. There is nothing wrong with what they did. My dad and I would do it all the time when I was younger. I grew up at the drag strip and having fun with your car didn't end at the drag strip. And good for you for smokin that Stang.
AaronSS 09-02-2008, 10:26 PM ^ I used to live in Daytona beach, and I found out very quickly that Floridians seem to mistake the freeway signs on I-95 for the speed limit.
BigJHHR07 09-02-2008, 10:28 PM Thats very true. Old people pass you and flip ypu off on I-95 If your not running atleast 90mph
masterchief1112 12-19-2008, 10:16 AM nice kill on the stang.
