New to the forum, live in the Los Angeles area.. Last Tuesday after coming back from LAX I got nailed in my Sunburst Orange 2LT, Damn less then 5 days old! Was turning on Sepulveda to Imperial hwy, on the left turn lane when this woman decides to try and make it a triple turn lane. I waited for the police to come, Inglewwod police show up, she starts a crying rotuine. After a hour in the rain, the cop tells me that its LAPD problem, and lets her go! She has no insurance!!!! I got all the information from her, but I know she will dissappear! 5,0000 dollars damage, took out my right doors. My insurance company did stepup to the plate, and agreed to replace both door shells not skins. Now its gonna be a waiting game, the dealer tells me that there arew no doors available! I'll try and get some pics at the bodyshop I took it too. Damn I tell you, this just makes me sooo furious!

Since she left, did you report it LAPD as a hit a run?

If it wasen't their problem they why did they show up in the first place?

Have officers names or badges?
Sound like a nice lawsuit if they didn't make a contact of LAPD or offer to. They are officers on site, still must have a report as they showed up!

find a good wrecking yard you like and have them do a search for the doors. easy to find if they are out there

here is a left rear door on EBAY

So she breaks the law by not having mandated insurance and they let her go? Ah, our tax dollars at work!

Glad you are ok!

File an complaint with the Inglewood Police department..
when the complaints get piled up those two police officers will have to answer to it by their Captain

Wanted to share in your pain a litttle bit. Yesterday, after owning my new HHR for a day and a half, I was rear ended at Coldwater and Ventura Blvds in Studio City. Emergency vehicle started up its siren and we all slowed down except for the young lady behind me. Gave me a good bump, superficial damage at best to rear bumper, still will cost between 750-1000 to repair. Insurance or driver will cover all costs, but still just way to soon to have to be dealing with this stuff. I absolutely love this car...best car I've ever owned!!

I left the Los Angeles area and moved back to Philadelphia. I lived there for 5 years. Was nailed three times the last year i was there. All three times by someone who didn't have any insurance. the last time the driver didn't even have a license. I packed my things and left.

Good luck with your repairs.
