I just put up a how-to for installing the IMCO Turbo Muffler on our site. This is the best performing muffler we have found for the HHR. Several members have emailed me for pics about the install, so I decided to add it to our "How-To Galleries" so everyone can benefit.
We hope to have these mufflers available soon as an affordable alternative for owners who can't afford a full cat-back right now. The IMCO Turbo we chose provides optimum flow for the HHR's exhaust needs, while providing enough back pressure to ensure no power loss. Noise levels are deep and throaty - without "droning" while cruising.
Heres the how-to page" IMCO Turbo Muffler Install (http://www.socalhhr.citymax.com/imcomufflerinstall.html)
Hope it helps! :thumb:

If possible. Could you post a sound clip. I really want to put a muffler on it, but just don't know what anything will sound like on it. (my first 4 banger).

Did you click on the pictures and read the captions??? :(
It pretty much takes you through the entire process.

No. :red: I looked at the pictures but must have forgot how to read. I didn't realize you had to click on all of the pictures in sequence for the how to. I retract my previous statement, now it's a good how to. ;) :thumb: See, I even voted for it.

Adapter "swedges" can be purchased at many parts stores, such as Pep Boys and Auto Zone.
With that, and maybe leaving a little more pipe on the muffler side, I think a safe install could be done with a clamp - pretty much how many DIY cat back systems are done.
Can you provide the OD of the factory pipe and the ID of the muffler pipe to assist in purchasing the correct adapter?

We recommend welding, as improperly clamped systems can cause engine backfires...something that can set off a bunch of faulty engine codes with an OBDII system. Pay a reputable shop weld it on - you'll be glad you did in the long run.
