I got the the XM 6 CD in Dash Radio.
Review
I'm happy with the presets. I enjoy having contests with my friends in the car trying to guess the name of the song. The I button is great. Having the ability to control the volume from the steering wheel, and channel is great too. :thumb: For having a Radio mute on the steering wheel as well. The aux jack is another :thumb: 's up. I enjoy using my psp to entertain myself and others while driving. It also allowed me to find a lot of hot spots (WI-FI Free internet access with my psp). The only issue I have is the CD changer. I do not like the loading time in between the CD's. I have not yet made an mp3 cd yet to try. Soon I shall.
I also had the chance to Drive an LS with the basic Stock Radio. After spending over month driving my car in New York. While in Florida driving an LS Rental for vaction I was so use to press the steering wheel which did not have any of the controls and I hated not having XM from the basic stock radio. I found the display to be to plain and boring. There were more features with the XM eddition.

That is why there is an upgrade price difference, more features more cost. I also have the 2LT model with the XM/Pioneer radio and love it. I can't see where anyone would want to attempt to upgrade/change the premium radio setup.(1 cd radio that is)

I have the same radio minus the XM. I'm happy with the head unit but the amp isn't powerful enough and the quality of the speakers is s**t. That is the next thing I plan on doing to my HHR. The Mustang I had before my HHR had over 1000 watts from the factory (mach 1000 system) and the sound quality from the speakers was good. Chevy should have followed suit with a more powerful stereo option. I'll be happy when I have a more powerful amp or two and I replace the speakers with a higher quality speaker than pioneer. Also the sub is too small. Otherwise I love my HHR with the exception of the window switch location.

I'd rather go with aftermarket speakers anyday

Window Swithes is another good comment to make. I'm not two happy about them either.

I'm not oposed to putting the switches in the center of the car but they should have put them behind the shifter. I have to break my wrist just to put the windows up while in park. My buddie has an Volvo with the window and sun roof switches in the middle and the engineers at least had enough common sense to put the switches in an easy to reach location behind the shifter.

I love where the windows controls are, but I do think behind the shifter would be a much better idea.

I have the same system in my 2LT and really like it. I wasn't sure if I wanted the multiple CD changer, but now that I have it I do like it.

On my fun car 325i the changer is in the truck and I have a couple of CD packets that hold 6 CD's each. So to change over all I have to do is stop the car, open the truck. open the lid on the CD chager, remove the packet and replace it with a different packet. EASY! Get back in the car and we are ready to play the new CD's.

Only have changed it once or twice while out on the road.

As for the window switches I sort of like them in the center up front. On the BMW they are located between the two front seats. Find myself fishing for them while driving. One thing that would be nice is to have the windows include auto up! I know GM feels this is a safety feature, but it is a pain in the butt to keep your finger on the button to close the window.

And then there is the darn door locks! I really like the VW Jetta locks and they also include a little red LED to tell you the securing system is activated. Neat Stuff.

XM radio is nice, but I have found there is a lot of time in New England when it will not function. Too many clouds, trees, whatever blocking the signal.

Hey, I also got the premium sound system and for now it does the job! Nothing to right home about, but it is better than what I was listening to! lol Coal Chamber and Tool rock pretty decent for a stock system and "The Fragile" by Nine Inch Nails sounds good too! I definitely want to upgrade, but it's doing the job so I am going to spend more on tires and wheels!

Coal Chamber never rocks! Devil Driver is so much better! N.I.N.? Didn't everyone forget them in about 1995? I can't talk s**t about Tool though. Let me guess, your a "goth"?

Did you buy it in 1995? LOL! I used to kind of dig them when I was like 14 or 15. Wasn't the name of the CD with head like a hole Petty Hate Machine? Not to try and sound like a d**k fenris222 but those bands were trendy when I was a kid. I usualy dont like comercial bands like them. Right now I'm listening to Handsome Boy Modeling School, Styles Of Beyond, HED PE, and Subnoise Souljaz alot and they all sound like s**t through the factory system. The bass response sucks and the highs aren't very clear!

My first choice of tunez is old Black Flag, Minute Men, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, MDC, Circle Jerks, The Germs, DOA, Social D, Nashville Pu**y, you get my drift...I also like Machinehead, Soul Fly, and lotz of different stuff. When you have a significant other you learn to have "Tolerant" taste. Hey I seen Hed PE with Soul Fly in Rochester, NY and I also saw Coal Chamber with Drowning Pool in Detroit and well I am not going to get into what's "good", what's "trendy", what's "garbage" but Hed PE was well....I will leave it at that! lol I really believe people have their own tastes and choices so I am not one to judge. I moved to Seattle in 1983 with a friend of mine from Big Sandy, MT. His band at the time was Deranged Diction....I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience being a part of that scene and my friend went on to be a part of one of the all-time great bands to come out of the Seattle (ugh, I hate this term) "Grunge Bands". I won't get into details cuz I don't want to come off as "I know so and so, and I hung out with so and so"....Flat out, I like all kinds of music. I don't mind people rippin on me for what I like and its cool, it is all in good fun. I still think "Me Loco" rocks lol! I love hearing about what people like and dislike. Captain mentioned a few bands that I have not heard and so I will check em out. My premium sound is adequate, pobably in large part that my old system totally blew! Believe me, I definitely want to upgrade the system...I been fortunate to see so many different types of music that I know I am very lucky....I remember going with my friend I mentioned to see Grand Master Flash in 1983, that totally tripped me out! Never heard that kinda music live. Also saw Metallica on there very first tour, yada yada yada lol Anyhow, it's cool not to always like the samethings, I have diverse tastes. One of the best live shows I ever saw was in the mid 80's at Union Station in Seattle on Halloween....The band that opened up - Nirvana when they were still a 4 piece band; the headliner - B*tthole Surfers! They were so cool. OK, I am off my soap box and sorry for the long post, I just love music and hearing what other people like!

Rock ON to your own beat!

Awesome! Next time you are in Rochester we'll have to have a beer. I wasn't trying to knock you just having flashbacks. Sorry if I came off wrong. I kind of have a tendency of being a d**k. I love old punk rock also! Just like you I love all types of music, except pop and country. Sorry! i have to agree with you about HED PE being trendy for a while but have you listened to there new CD? Talk about hardcore. The whole album is just a big FU to the music industry. They just signed to Suburban Noize records so there next CD should be better and hopefully there is an apperance from the Kottonmouth Kings. Sorry to offend! :red:
