jayras 05-15-2006, 02:29 AM Wish I had my camera with me today,
We headed out to get Quiznos and on the way we pass by a "farmers market" selling freshly picked produce and in the parking lot were TWO '49 Suburbans...they were there for advertisment.
And if that weren't enough, later down the road was a tricked out Balck with Red Flame '49 Suburban
I may be wrong on the year/car...they looked enough like my HHR that I'd call em that...
Of course, you'll never believe me anyway...3 in one day....

In 1958 I used to work at a very small food market. The owner had one of these panel trucks and I used to deliver food to people at their homes. It had only a drivers seat.If I had a lot of deliveries we used an empty crate turned upside down for my helper.:D We didn't have seat belts or seats.
Now I have a new one with all these modern inventions and I don't even have to shift it.

Dayam, I didn't know you folks have love bugs too. Those things are nasty. If you don't wash them off right away the acid in their squished little bodies will eat through the paint really quickly. Our love bug season doesn't officially start till around September, but every year they come out earlier and they're already out in this area. sucks cause now I don't want to drive my HHR.
BTW: Did you know these love bugs originated (in the US) in Texas and have been migrating outward since sometime in the 1940's. Likewise, I'm sure some of the crap we have here in Florida has found it's way westward...LOL
They mate once, get buried in the soil. Newbies come out and the process starts all over again...what a sucky life.

PerryHallHHR 06-25-2006, 09:10 PM 108 in Maryland? zowie.... I live in the desert and it's not that hot here (yet). Today, perhaps 100 degrees
Yeah it was parked in the sun and I started it up one day to see that on the display. It wasn't really 108 degrees, but it's read temps like 100 and 104 before, so I'm guessing it's either extremely sensative or just broken. haha.

Yup. It was 80 something here one day and when I got in and my HHR the DIC said it was 106.
SoCalHHR 06-25-2006, 09:34 PM The HHR's DIC is mounted behind the passenger front bumper cover. I imagine it gets pretty hot in there sitting in the sun. Once you drive for a few minutes however, it should be reading the corrrect ambient temp.

Now I don't feel so bad. I do that all the time. In fact, yesterday I went to Best Buy to look at some stuff and saw a PT Loser backing out of a parking spot...so I went up the aisle from the other end and and he had to wait for me to pull into my spot before he could exit the aisle. Made sure I took my time too, so they got a nice long look at my shiny new HHR from their dirty PT Loser.

Hey Sindy...he must be reading too many of 06's posts.
Got another PT story from today. I went to Walmart to pick up a printer since mine bit the dust. A PT Loser with 2 little old ladies in it pulled into the row in front of me and one spot over. They were buggin at the car but didn't say anything and I walked into the store in front of them. Since I needed a buggy, I pulled 2 out and gave one to the nice ladies and they said thank you young lady.
Then when I went to leave the store, as I was putting my stuff in the cargo area, lo and behold, there come the little old ladies that belonged to the PT. They were again taking a good look at the car, so I said...have a nice day ladies and got in my car and pulled out...them still gawking away. :thumb:
PerryHallHHR 06-29-2006, 09:46 PM I always park next to PT Losers when I get the chance. I love to see the owners eye's when they do a comparison between the two...LOL
One time, I passed a shiney new cream white PT with a middle-aged couple in it, and they quickly swerved behind me. When we came to a stop at the next light, I looked in my rearvew mirror and saw the woman in the passanger's seat making awkward hand gestures comparing the HHR to their PT. All I could infer from it, was that she noticed the HHR was more boxy... so it seemed. haha.

Songman 07-02-2006, 03:40 AM Sindy,
Keep your camera handy if you are out tomorrow afternoon! We're visiting my in-laws down in Hemet and will be heading up 395 on the way back to Bakersfield. I'll be in my pickup and my wife will be following me in her shiny new black LS.
This is what we saw out of our HHR today... We were down in San Diego for a Fiero show... Just one of my other hobbies...

Songman 07-02-2006, 04:06 AM Thanks Sindy! I'm not exactly sure when we will get out of here. You know how it is with in-laws. We hope it will be around lunch time when we leave here. We'll give you a call when we get close and maybe we can meet and get some 'black and white' pictures. I am sure my wife would love to meet another lady HHR lover. She has big plans for this little truck...
BTW - Do ya'll consider this thing a truck? I do, but I noticed that Chevy lists it under cars.

Ohh, I love the Fiero. I almost bought one as my first car about two years ago, but I couldn't find one that wasn't in beat-to-hell condition. :(
Songman 07-03-2006, 01:12 AM Ohh, I love the Fiero. I almost bought one as my first car about two years ago, but I couldn't find one that wasn't in beat-to-hell condition. :(
I own most of them! haha... I've had about 45 of them in the past 11 years. I have 6 now including an 88 GT with factory T-tops and 2 Ferrari kit cars. Fieros got a bad rap in 84 but they are great cars. And since everyone believes that they catch on fire, I can buy them up cheaply. We have a Fiero forum with over 13000 members.
DJNateGnau 07-03-2006, 09:51 AM Fiero GT's are the best... I'm writing a book, And the person narrating the book, Drives an '86, With a 3800S/C repower.
Songman 07-03-2006, 12:24 PM Is this person active in the Fiero world? If so, I may know him/her. I've been organizing Fiero events and clubs on both ends of the country for a lot of years.
It is amazing some of the different power configurations that are making their way into Fieros. Everything from old V8s to new LS1s to brand new Pontiac G6 motors. There are a couple of vendors working on 6-speed tranny swaps now too. My 355 kit car has a race-built 3.4 TDC with turbo rated at 450 HP, about 75 more ponies than the real 355. Looks like we may have to start a Fiero thread somewhere in Off-topic. I didn't expect to find any Fiero fans here.
Here is a picture of my T-top...
http://www.fiero-performance.com/fiero/88gt/mb2.jpg
And then on the extreme end, my friend's chopped, Lambo door'd, Northstarred, 20 inch wheeled, totally custom exotic Fiero...

Snoopy 07-03-2006, 02:18 PM That's neat...glad to see you're enjoyin the Fiero.
I owned one of 2, 1984 factory built "Indy" Fiero's (still had the old iron duke, however). Sold that and bought an 85, then an 86, then an 88. Had NOS on the 86, with other "little" changes...was really an exceptional vehicle. Could not beat them overall, but scared a lot of Porches on winding roads. One time scared my wife (she was a passenger) so bad, we had to stay at a motel for the rest of the day (Jerome to Prescott back road exceding 140 mph).
Often wondered what happened to them.
Anyway, neat car....wish they still made them.
DJNateGnau 07-03-2006, 05:14 PM Songman... Actually I need to rephrase that. The MAIN CHARACTER in the book drives the Fiero. He's not a real person.

Songman 07-03-2006, 05:47 PM Ahhhhh! I understand now. Smart guy in the book!

what is really bad is when you go to Plano West High School and you H1 and H2's, Saleens, a row of Vipers, several Vettes and many numerous other really nice cars in the parking lot and then you realize, these are 11th and 12th graders driving them.
and this is no BS post either. W Plano is very well to do.
even at my kids high school you would see Hummers and Vipers in the parking lot. Plano kids have suburbans and mercededs and beemers there as well

this guy took his dog on 3 iron butt runs. that is 10,000 miles in 10 days hitting all 4 corners of the continental US
most of the beemer riders do over 15,000 in 10 days.

courthousedeb 08-13-2006, 12:34 AM Went to church today for Baptismal for my youngest grandson and this was parked in front of the church. It's a 1965 Citreon with a 2 cylinder engine. I asked the elderly gentleman who owned it if I could take a picture to show my friends online and he said sure. Told me all about the history of the car and some about the engine and stuff. Even had me sit inside so I could see how roomy it was...and I couldn't believe it.

I've reconsidered posting the email from that company. I feel it voilates ChevyHHR.net advertising policy request. I retract posting my email with company info.
