Okay, that might not sound like much of a race, but take this into consideration: both vehicles pulling trailers in mountainous terrain.
On the first leg of our return trip to Buffalo, we had a U-Haul box trailer (5x8) loaded with a piano, a recliner and some light stuff. Total weight was probably 1500 lbs. The first thing we hit leaving Arizona is Texas Canyon, which is a steady and consistent uphill grade followed by stable downhills.
I wasn't planning on passing anyone, but I wound up coming on an impromptu U-Haul convoy, being led by the above mentioned Bighorn Edition Ram (looked like an '07-08), a 3/4 ton with the Cummins engine in it. It should be running circles around me, especially since it's pulling a smaller trailer than I am (he had a 4x8 box trailer)!!
I wound up passing the truck TWICE. He caught up to me about ten minutes after the first pass, but then I wound up passing him again. Both times on uphill stretches.
Not to sound arrogant, but ... it sure felt good to emasculate a Ram like that. :thumb:
