We've been trying to contact other HHR groups about our Solvang run - but none in the central coast area have responded.

Only way you're going to make it like the original panel vans is if you remove the back doors and fully panel the HHR all the way to the front door to make it a 2 door.

Ok, my guess is you removed the rear and cargo windows and replaced all the glass with sheet metal, then bondo, sand, primer, sand, paint, color sand, and cleared it.

I've waited "patiently" til 12:25 EDT and still no new pics (even checked the gallery). So what's the new mystery you have yet to unveil?

The back and rear windows look good but that black trim around the back doors windows looks kinda funny..Maybe that trim could be painted..That reminds me of a question. Whats the best way to keep the black molding looking good? I tryed the MG tire gel but I think it just attracted dirt..

Don't have a good answer for treatment of molding..
I thought about adding a strip of the graphic vinyl to the vertical black strip.. the perimeter of the window is another different story..

Tell me what the Mod is ...

That's cool, what you've sorta done here is made your HHR look like the black one's already do from the manufacture. Since the HHR already comes with fairly dark tinted windows the the black ones already look kinda like a panel. I've already had several people ask me if I had them tinted like this to look like a panel, of course when I told them it came this way they were surprised.

Maybe this is an option Chevy should offer, tinted windows color matched to the paint...LOL

Its a vinyl graphic material --
added to the outside window surface..

My rear window wiper is removed.. because ... its not good for the material.. (Oooopppss another mod slipped out....)

What would really be cool if you can find a way to match paint the black trim around the rear doors somehow to match the vinyl. I'm sure you've already thought about that.

i bought some and tried it
it was ok but amorall wipes did about the same thing and you can use those for all the plastic

I don't use armorall on anything, as a matter of fact as a fleet manager of 35 years we wouldn't allow the use of armorall by the detailers on any of our 155,000+ fleet of vehicles. We found that it had a way of getting on everything and it found it's way onto brake pedals, most likely transfered there by over spray picked up on drivers shoes. This in turn made the brake pedals slippery and caused some accidents. We also had problems with steering wheels becoming slippery. Since we stopped using it we didn't have any more reports of feet slipping off of brake pedals or steering wheels slipping in the drivers hands. I've never trusted the stuff since.

Possible a rubberise coating of some type.. you don't want the rubber to dry out... and still be able to condition it.... mind to ponder...

ive used armorall for years and always spray on a rag and not directly on the car. i even spray on the wipes when it gets dry so long as it isnt real dirty.

i once sprayed armorall on a friends leather seat and not on the passenger seat. i got in and sat down and waited.

want to talk about funny, he almost slid in the well between the seats
i still laugh every time i think about it and see the look on his face
