the reason i was worried about the pillar coming off w/o side curtain air bags going off is I am going to replace the tweeter w the JL XR650-CSi 6.5's i have bought.

i bought 2 sets on Ebay and got some great prices.
i also bought one 12 in JL 12w3v2 D4
i am powering all of these w 3 JL AUDIO 300/2 2 Channel Amps. JayDogg has been great in advising me on all of this and even made a wiring diagram in paint and emailed it to me

my hats off to Jaydogg for all the help,,,, i have benn told by several that this will be a very very clear and very very good system

the cool part is i am getting it cheaper then the original Kicker stuff i was looking at and feel i am getting better equipment. all of this will go in this weekend and during the week next week in time for my trip to Florida to PDR school on the 13th.

Speakers will all be in by Friday and then amps in by next wed.

i got all for 1174.26 new w delivery included and the Kicker was a lil over $1400 local but i could have gotten it cheaper too. this should have been around 1500 to 1800 for the JL even at discount prices so i feel good.

i was thnking about mounting all 3 amps on a small piece of thin plywood in the back well so they cant move around and then buying a small fan from radio shack and mount it on the wood as well to help cool off the amps.

i can not wait to hear this system.

Buying off ebay is kind of scary because a lot of the people selling on there aren't authorized dealers of the products they are selling thus negating the factory warranty. If the products fail the person or business may have their own return policies but you have no coverage from the manufacturer. That being said I can't wait to see your system CJ.

CJ, you normally do, take pix. And if you can...a write up. I plan on purchasing my audio/video equipment, as my finances allow, and will be installing everything by the end of the year. I also plan on buying some gear via ebay, but I'm going with Infinity audio equipment and a Alpine head unit.

I've been debating where to put the amps and I would like a ten inch sub. I would like to do all this with minimal losses to my stock storage room. I'm thinking about a custom made sub enclosure. This is all in the planning stages. Hopefully I can get some ideas from your setup, when it's completed.

Before you buy that Alpine head, you should take a listen to my Pioneer system.

Guaranteed to turn your head.

I have under $600 in my system too. (*retail is much higher, of course.)

No offense, but I've owned Pioneer in the past and I'm going with Alpine :one: . Pioneer doesn't even come close. There isn't even a need to debate, I've already made up my mind.

Oh well, you dont' know what you're missing - Alpine has nothing even close to this setup.

the whole thing will be stock and in the same places cept the sub will have the grill outside but in the same spot. the amps will be in the storage area in the back. i am hoping the grille that comes with it will let the storage floor clear it.

the crossovers may be in the same place or under the back seat. i have to see how much room is there too. the amps might fit too under the back seat..
will see

i will take pics for you guys.

i am stoked about the system.

There is alot of room under the rear seat. just not any room to get to anything with out pulling the 3 bolts on the front. (I was trying to put a dvd player under there but couldn't change discs.) IMOP it would be a good place for amps.

I truly think so. The gap in the cargo area will provide ventalation. I was running two Orion HCCA's in a trunk of a mazda many years back with a lot less ventalation and problems were minimal. :one:

I just had mine out yesterday. There are 2 small cubbys under the seats, but there will not be ANY ventition-and amps need air. Even a fan would not help, since I do not believe there will be any source of air to blow from. It would be fine for cross overs, distribution blocks, etc.

3 bolts behind the seat?
there are 4 in front

so you took out the back 3 and leaned the seat forward?

cj first off your are welcome. 2nd off glad you got everything. you will be a very happy man trust me. did you get a different head unit or are you using the stock one? as for the pioneer versus alpine in head units, this one is a very hard one for me. i like pioneers but the alpine just had so much more, and i really liked that i could control my amps from the hu, and that pretty much sold me on it. i had some pioneers that when subs where hooked up i couldnt control them and had problems tuning me system and got way to much bass because of it. if i had to do it over again kenwood kdc-889 or alpine 9855 would be the only choice. i will eventually most likely getting ride of the 9855 i got to got to a double din kenwood dvd player unless i find an alpine that does what i want. Back on topic cj have fun installing and make sure you get that second battery like i have in that diagram, 3 amps might be a little much for the stock hhr battery, better save than sorry.

Lee3333
04-27-2006, 11:19 PM
Yep There are 2 bolts for the 60% part and 1 for the small section, then the seat pivots. And they have these strange rectangular washers attached that must be in the right position to secure the plastic cover.

Hi CJ! It is a DEH-8600MP (now discontinued). the current model would be the DEH-9600MP - but they are not cheap! It is XM compatible - but I don't listen to radio much ever.

Ford F-150

Scott started developing the 2002 Ford F-250 back in May of 2002, he broke it down right to the frame for the construction of the subwoofer enclosures; which currently holds 13 Pioneer Premier TS-W5000SPL subwoofers!
Steel bars were used to reinforce the frame of the enclosure, so that the truck could withstand the enormous pressure that is generated by this silver beast. The windshield was removed and replaced with 2-1/2-inch thick plexi-glass. Each door weighs in at a whooping 200 pounds, both utilizing 1” x 2” aluminum hinges to lock them down in place. The air space inside the truck is vacuum-sealed to prevent air leakage, which is crucial in Sound Pressure Competition.

The truck holds 52 amplifiers, 72 16-volt Turbo Start batteries and three Ohio Generator 285-amp alternators and produces 115,200 watts of power. A Pioneer DEX-P1R is cleverly mounted on a special pod outside of the car to control the system during competitions. Scott uses Scosche Interconnects, exclusively.

Spring Break Nationals
Recently at the 2005 Spring Break Nationals…

Scott demolished the competition in the dB Drag Extreme 5+ class competition, clocking in at an amazing 176.6dB! That was just about 7dB over the second place finalist.Scott took another first place at the event, in MECA X3 class, in turn setting the loudest score ever recorded in MECA history at 176.2 dB. In IdBL, he set a “Highest in IdBL History” record with a monstrous 179.0 dB. The highest ever recorded with an Audio Control System, at the time of the event.

hey Mike,

not to step on your toes but the 8600 and the 9600 are discontinued as of right now...the 8600 would be replaced by the 8700...but they skipped over the x700 and went to the x800....

Not stepping on my toes Wheels - you are right - it's discontinued. You can still find new ones on eBay though. In fact, every once in a while you will see a DEH-8600MP on thter at a good price. They match the HHR interior nicely too!

The most comparable current model to mine is the:

Which sells for around $420.

Hope it helps,
