Navyflyer11 04-28-2006, 05:40 PM Here are a few pics of the video monitors Ihave installed so far. They are set up so I can run GPS or DVD on them. I am going to work on making a switching matrix so I can use any combo I want.

This is where I put the DVD player for now. DVD player is temp till I figure out what I want to do. I had to put the DVD in for my trip down to Dallas with my daughter. :thumb:
captain howdy 04-28-2006, 06:29 PM Nice! :thumb: Does the front monitor flip down when not in use or do you have to leave the dash compartment open?
ng8650 04-28-2006, 07:14 PM Are you going to do the other headrest? Did you do the headrest yourself?

txsman2930 04-28-2006, 07:36 PM Looks Awesome. Glad you said where that DVD Player currently is set is only temporary. Hey. Mount it on the ceiling. lol..hmm...You know. That might actually be a good idea. maybe find a way to run the wiring behind the interior molding down to the outlet. I know. Probably sounds crazy.
O6ChevyHHR 04-28-2006, 07:52 PM dose the Aux glovebox still close shut? Looks Great.
Navyflyer11 04-28-2006, 07:58 PM Yes the AUX glove box still closes. The monitor is on a hing and is spring loaded so it folds up and down when I close the lid.
captain howdy 04-28-2006, 08:04 PM Bad ass! Nice job! Now you just have to work on that DVD player mounting location before you have to use your heat. :(

I will do the other head rest when I find another monitor that matches the one on pass. side. I did do it myself, I found a set of head rest in a salvage yard that would fit. They came out of a older mercedes. I had to cut down the posts. and they were tan so I had to use the interior spray paint to match the color.

It is far enough from the vent that it won't be a problem.

BlackHHR 04-28-2006, 10:37 PM Looks very good. Love the dash. kick Ass :twothumbs
ng8650 04-28-2006, 10:44 PM How hard was it to install the headrest?

dbarberaz 04-28-2006, 11:05 PM :thumb: looks great. Fooled me also thought they were stock headrest
Navyflyer11 04-29-2006, 12:04 AM How hard was it to install the headrest?
Ng
It wasn't too hard. The headrests that I got tilt forward, in ordre for them to do that they have a frame inside. I had to cut down part of the frame to get the monitor to look right. The tilt effect is great, if the wife reclines the seat back to sleep my daughter can tilt it forward and still watch a video. Plus I like being ble to tilt mine forward to give extra neck suport.

Nice. I thought about doing almost the same thing, but scrapped the idea because I don't need or want a DVD player or a screen that large. Instead of a large screen, I'm going to pick up a smaller GPS.
Thanks for sharing. Very nice! :thumb:
Holmes Hot Ride 04-29-2006, 09:50 AM Navy, One of the best mods for the interior I have seen. Thanks for the how to. What brand did you use for the DVD and where can one get the head rest like yours? :thumb: :usa:
Navyflyer11 04-29-2006, 10:45 AM the dvd is just a apex from walmart. I got the head rests from a salvage yard. The monitor in the headrest is by movies to go. A shop was close-out selling them for $29.99 they didn't have the plugs. Wish I would have bought 2. I rewired the plug for my use.
Holmes Hot Ride 04-29-2006, 12:14 PM Thanks! I thought the DVD looked familiar. You are blessed to have found all these things, not to mention the addaption that you did to your HHR.
snova031 04-30-2006, 10:45 PM Is that a Lilliput screen in the front?
Navyflyer11 05-13-2006, 03:46 PM Is that a Lilliput screen in the front?
Looks like one, but it is not labled. Prob a generic knock off.
Got the 12V DVD player just before I left home on deployment(oops I mean business). Can't wait to mess with it to find a nice place to install it.
I have got to work on my switching matrix too. I want to be able to switch the dvd to the rear screen and the navigation to the front. Plus I want to have the sound come from either the audio system or the wireless headphones.:thumb:
bigtreble 11-12-2007, 06:17 PM I'm interested in installing a hinged GPS screen in the dash box.
Where do I get the hinge from?
