:p: Attached are some pictures of my HHR at a small local car show in Canfield, Ohio today. The truck in the background is my son's 1934 Dodge Pickup with Chevy 350 Ram Jet Engine and all Chevy running gear (automatic). This truck will be featured in several national magazines in the coming months. The Nomad Station Wagon belongs to Bob Darney, who built the Dodge. Also shown are my son's very original (as found in PA) 1937 Ford 2-door (street rod project for next year) and my 1951 Ford Stake Truck (all original with 23,000 miles - restored a few years ago).

 I guess you can see why the HHR appealed to me! If it weren't so new, we would be installing a V-6 or V-8 engine in it by now. I wonder if this would void the warranty?? (In addition, my wife likes to drive the HHR and wouldn't want to be without it for many months). We are also working on a body-off frame total restoration of my wife's 1966 Corvette convertible. These are big projects. We have about one year in the Dodge and expect the Corvette to take about 6 months to complete.

Earlier today, I drove the HHR to the Canfield Auto Flea Market, which is nearby and cruised through the aisles - got a LOT of looks and great comments. I let one of my friends take the HHR for a test run and he was impressed. In addition this guy goes about 300 pounds and said he fit in it nicely. He said he now plans to buy one for his wife, who now has an Envoy. He is looking for better gas mileage.

obviously I have and love my HHR.:>:>, but the car shows up here are mostly geared towards the classics and hotrods. Some shows require collector plates or antique plates to enter, others don't. so unless it's a tuner car type show late models usully don't take home a trophy.

Wow! I'm guessing when you decide to mod your HHR it's going to be kick-A**

I don't normally question old car stuff...but the Chevy Wagon appears to be a Handyman Wagon and not a Nomad wagon. From all the places I have looked to verify this...the 2 door Nomad has an angled post behind the drivers door and a large one piece glass behind the front post. Here's a page that shows several station wagons from that era, including both I mentioned above.

Now I will run and hide from Fritz...LOL

:red: I am certain that you are right. I will check with Bob Darney tomorrow to be sure. In fact, I believe I once heard his car referred to as a "Handyman". I checked the vintage airstreamer.com site and printed it for Bob, as found it very interesting and it clearly shows his car as being a "Handyman". Either way, it is one fine car! At one time (first new car), I had a 1959 Ford 2-door Station Wagon that was light green and ivory. My mother liked it so much, she bought a matching one in light blue and ivory. These were somewhat rare at the time, as most station wagons were 4 doors.

Later I graduated to General Motors and my next new car was a 1963 Pontiac Station Wagon. I ordered it in special with the Bonneville engine and used to do well at the local drag strip. (Station wagons get off the line better, due to the weight in the back). That was one of my favorites, although my HHR is growing on me every day and seems to have a lot more power since is is broken in (now 2,000 miles).

Another way that you can tell that it is not a Nomad is that it has a smooth roof. The Nomads had ribs in the roof...

Hey, did you ever consider putting SHINY paint on your cars? You know, something with a little more GLOSS. :D It would be nice to see some REFLECTIONS, say from a STORE SIGN or something... (j/k)

 SHEEESH! What a freekin' gloss!~

Was the HHR part of the show? Or was it just a great photo op?

I went to a car show up here, Packwood, wa., as a spectator, and heard them on the pa system discribing thier "retro" rod class. It was PT's,, new 'stangs, and HHR's, infuture to include new challenger and camaro. I went to parking lot and entered my S.E., and won!!!! (have to admit, I was the only one in that class). anyways, have pic in gallery, someday will be a paying member, and post pics in thread. I will post more pics when 35mm is developed.
