On the way back from getting my new plates I had a 350Z pull up next to me at a light and start doing stupid stuff (gas/break, revving) at first I was not even thinking about racing. I had my windows down about 1 inch and this guy starts yelling expletives about me and my HHR, i just couldn't resist. I got the launch control set up and revved up to about 20lbs and when that light turned green, i jumped on him by about a 1/4 of a car, from then on up until 110mph he never pulled in front of me. When we got to the next light, I could tell he was pissed, he swerved and tried to hit me and got in front of me and did a brake check. Normally I try to be more grown up than that, but when he threw a slurpee at my car, i lost it. Thank god my windows were up or that red crap would have gotten all over my interior, I had a brand new un-opened can of diet mountain dew that ended up embedded in the center of his windshield. (dont know how it got there) Needless to say, if i race someone, they wont get a chance to do that again.

1. Glad you beat him!
2. too bad it was not on a track.
3. I hate it when cans of soda leap out of my car onto other cars:D
4. Racing is dangerous for you and everyone else on the road.
5. good thing your windows were up.
6. sounds like a bit of road rage and people get killed over that kinda stuff.
7. please be more careful

Not that I condone nor condemn street racing (I've done my share of that), but it sounds like both drivers need to grow a little more.

Also...........

110 between stop lights!?! Luck to be able to get to 70 between 2 here in Miami.

boosted 20psi at a stand-still? riiiight...

350 drivers think they own a supercar and the love it... but they're surprisingly not that fast... don't tell them though...

nice kill.

350ZZZZzzzz's are slow for what they are. But most 350ZZZZzzzz drivers think they're Fast 'n Furious. I witnessed a stoplight race where the exact same kind of 350ZZZZzzzz driver like you encountered, took on one of the supercharged Mustang cobras, an '03 probably. Maybe he thought it was a GT. Cobra pretty much sodomized the ZZZzzzz. It was too funny, because the ZZZzzzz driver had his girlfriend with him. He had just impressed his gf by coming up to my HHR as I cruised @ 45mph and kicking down.. he certainly showed my 2.2 liter who the boss was as I continued my 45mph cruise completely ignoring him. But then I noticed the Mustang ahead of us and I see him come up beside the Mustang and brake, jump it forward and brake, then the light ahead is red they both stop and I'm roll in bhind the Cobra. The Cobra just sat there while the ZZZZzzzz revved and braked it. Then as the light went yellow for the cross street, The Cobra revs, it sounded wicked the pipes and the roots blower wind up. Green light and ZZZZzzzz didn't know what hit him.

Sorry about the vicarious gratification story, but you had to be there.

Your all a bunch of PUNKS! Why back in my day we wouldn't even think of throwing a perfectly good can of soda!

Best story ever. The only thing that would have made it better is a cell phone pic of the guy's car with the windshield. Still, that's some scary stuff. Be careful man.

I would have taken a picture, but my phone is so old it does not have a camera.

I shouldn't have wasted the can of soda on him, but the look on his face was priceless, and no, I am not always like that, i just hate sore losers. If he would have lost with grace, his windshield would be intact, and I wouldn't be thirsty.

Jeezus guys, throwing a drink can was bad enough, let's not pull pistols over a street race.

I don't recall stating that I would. All I was saying was it pays to be ready for anything.
