And how many of you guys would install or have one installed on your HHR?

After driving several Cobalts with the blower, I can say that the additional power would be welcome. If the calibration could be correct it would make a nice package, even with the auto trans. It will probably be some time before GM could come out with a factory package but then who knows?, they might be closer than you think. The aftermarket is already burning the midnight oil on this so stay tuned.

The 2.0 forced induction won't work on the 2.4L eco's - it's a different engine block. However, Andy and I checked this weekend and from what we can tell the Cobalt SS's 205hp/200tq 2.0L supercharged engine will shoehorn right into the HHR without much problem! :thumb:

Time to start calling wrecking yards! :D

I'm currently awaiting a return response from Banks Power (known for their superb turbo charging systems)...
Caught a clip on the TV last weekend ("Two Guys Garage" on SPEED) where the host (Sam) toured the Banks facility. Funny thing- Gale Banks had fresh crate motors from the factory that they were prototyping power packages for... and ONE WAS AN ECOTEC!!!!
I e-mailed Banks inquiring if the Ecotec crate was a 2.0L, 2.2L, or 2.4L??? Of course- I dropped chevyhhr.net :one: as a DIRECT market for potential buyers ~to test the waters.
We'll see what the response is....
I'd be REALLY excited if they came out with a system for the 2.4!!!

After reading about the Ecotec motor at Banks, I also E-mailed Banks to inquire about a turbo system. I figure the more people that show interest, the more likely they will produce a system.

I just got their response. They said they were not sure yet about an Ecotec system, we will have to wait and see.

I'm guessing they are trying to see how much power/reliability/cost will come out of a prototype system.

I had a Banks Power-pack system on my 94 Suburban and I can say that their stuff used top-notch materials, it fit perfectly(i installed it myself), produced the promised power, and lasted for many years and many miles. For example, the header flange was 5/8" thick stainless steel!
