View Full Version : Carolina Cobalt track day
Dr_Jekyll 10-20-2008, 10:43 AM I met up with a bunch of Cobalts for a track day yesterday and got to get my baseline runs in so I can start modding. I was pretty happy with my results as they consistently got better as the day went on. This front wheel drive stuff is alot different then rear wheel.:D
I got 7 runs in and this track was an 1/8 mile.
1st 2 runs - Made the mistake of trying the Launch control on street tires.
1. 60' - 2.343 1/8 - 9.712@76.40MPH
2. 60' - 2.447 1/8 - 9.835@26.55MPH(MPH was screwed up on that run)
3. 60' - 2.351 1/8 - 9.709@77.05MPH
4. 60' - 2.282 1/8 - 9.606@77.61MPH
5. 60' - 2.260 1/8 - 9.571@77.43MPH
6. 60' - 2.432 1/8 - 9.959@72.78MPH(Spun off the line and missed 3rd)
7. 60' - 2.198 1/8 - 9.402@78.15MPH(Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx0J4EDHooI))
The last run was a great race between me and an '08 Cobalt SS with Exhaust. He ran a 9.382@79.29MPH. He tree'd me pretty good but I made it up on the 60' and he started to pull me on the top end, but it was a great run. Here's a picture of everybody lined up before we went home.:one: http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p153/tru2nrtt777/Wrecked%20Balt/panorama.jpg
esmarkey 10-20-2008, 10:47 AM Thanks for sharing, and keep us posted on the times after the mods.
Also, thanks for representing the HHRs:D
Those guys weren't so bad, were they?
Dr_Jekyll 10-20-2008, 11:05 PM Besides feeling like I was "dad" around kids, they were great.
halfpanel08 10-21-2008, 12:49 AM looks like ya had a blast. i miss the racing days.
*sighs* wish i had bought the SS nstead of the LS. haha
Dr_Jekyll 11-03-2008, 08:17 PM I'm meeting up with some Cobalts again this weekend and we're hitting the 1/4 mile. I'm gonna try my butt off to rep the HHR SS to some impressive stock times before I add my tune next week.:D Realistically I hope to pull off a mid 14 but will piss my pants if I can get 14.4 or possibly 14.3.:thumb:

Great times, what did you launch at?
Dr_Jekyll 11-04-2008, 10:03 AM Bodywerks, you really need to wait until beerthirty before you start drinking. I am going to the track this weekend and I am hoping for 14.5-14.3.:thumb:
esmarkey 11-04-2008, 10:05 AM I think he was asking what RPM did you launch at?
bodywerks 11-05-2008, 05:30 AM I think he was asking what RPM did you launch at?
Thanks, that's what i was asking.
bodywerks 11-12-2008, 05:26 AM Do you have any 1/4 mile times yet?
Dr_Jekyll 11-17-2008, 08:28 PM Here's my times from the local TnT day at the strip. Unfortunately I didn't get the date/time on alot of my slips, so they're in order of 1/4 ET. I got alot of runs in, I just couldn't get a good launch and the track was slick(or so it seemed).

camaro98z28 11-17-2008, 10:19 PM Nice runs. And mods? Now I know where I should be in the 1/4 mile if I can get past the traction problem. LOL

Thanks, I really think if I can get a good launch, I can pull out a 14.4. I am "Showroom Stock". That means, it's exactly as it came from the showroom. Going to check your thread.:)
