I live in oklahoma and I filled up for 1.96 yesterday. captain howdy 11-01-2005, 09:55 AM I live in Rochester N.Y. and only use 93 octane. I just paid $2.99 a gallon. teknobunie 11-01-2005, 10:28 AM I live in St. Petetsburg, Fl and gas is running $2.59 for 93, that is the lowest we have seen in some time! adamlowery 11-01-2005, 10:53 AM I've never paid attention to 93 oct. I just get the regular. Never thought it was worth it. captain howdy 11-01-2005, 10:56 AM For the octane boost no but for the additives and detergents yes. SoCalHHR 11-01-2005, 12:36 PM I'm in SoCal (no kidding?), and premium is $3.18 here. I have the 2.4L and 93 octane is recommended for it as many of you know. I'm getting ready to exeriment with a new octane booster which has the maximum amount of MMT allowed by law - and also nitromethane! It contains no alcohol, so is gentle on fuel lines and safe for catalytic converters and fuel injection. Will post more details after I test it... -Mike captain howdy 11-01-2005, 12:50 PM I also have the 2.4 so that is the main reason I run 93. But even if it wasn't the recomended gas I would still use it. Wouldn't adding an octane booster not help in terms of horsepower without the computer being programed to know its running a higher octane gas? That is one of the main resons you to chip your car or use a programer. If you have a custom program made for your car they need to know what gas you intend on running. adamlowery 11-01-2005, 01:01 PM I learn so much from you guys! wheelsee 11-01-2005, 01:06 PM I'm in SoCal (no kidding?), and premium is $3.18 here. On Saturday if that helps. wayne 11-01-2005, 01:56 PM Just filled up today and Regular: $2.27.9 93 $2.47.9 New Hampshire SoCalHHR 11-01-2005, 02:14 PM if I recall the reccomended gas is 89 on the 2.4L... -WC VIN code "P" is the 2.4L engine (see below) From the owner's manual: Gasoline Octane If your vehicle has the 2.2L L4 engine (VIN Code F), use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 87 or higher. If the octane rating is less than 87, you may notice an audible knocking noise when you drive, commonly referred to as spark knock. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. If you are using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher and you hear heavy knocking, your engine needs service. If your vehicle has the 2.4L L4 engine (VIN Code P), use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 91 or higher. You may also use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may be slightly reduced, and you may notice a slight audible knocking noise, commonly referred to as spark knock. :thumb: -Mike Long_Tall_Texan 11-01-2005, 02:22 PM 2.39 in Fort Worth yesterday for 91 octane #06 11-01-2005, 03:31 PM $2.65 for 87 in Phoenix.
