View Full Version : Raised White Letter Tires
courthousedeb 05-08-2006, 08:14 PM My boyfriend Henry has a really clean 1974 Olds Cutlass Supreme 2dr that has raised white letter tires. I was looking at his car parked next to mine today and was thinking how cool that might look. I really don't want to change my rim size until they come out with more wheels for the HHR. Here's the tire I'm thinking about putting on. What do you guys think and will this small difference in tire size create any warranty problems. Also, here's (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=CNR%2D798264151&N=400159+307078+115&autoview=sku) the website where I saw them...they are about $100 each.

captain howdy 05-08-2006, 08:23 PM You could do that to your current tires with a tire paint pen.

Not trying to talk you out of new rubber of course but if you just want the look of white letters painting them would be cheaper.
GDZHHR 05-08-2006, 08:24 PM You know that's what I like about this forum.....plenty of great ideas for me to steal....um I mean use!!:twothumbs

Thanks...that might work until I make up my mind for sure...but did you notice they were NASCAR tires? Me being the huge NASCAR fan that I am these might be right up my alley.
Yeshua...you crack me up, but you're right...this is a great place to get new ideas.

This is a new product of theirs. Comes in white, red, and yellow.
Found em on-line here after striking out at all the local places.

yeah, and......
captain howdy 05-08-2006, 09:44 PM It's a link to Duplicolors Hot Tires home page.
GDZHHR 05-08-2006, 09:48 PM Yeah, so what?
All they do is tell you who sells their products, not who stocks Hot Tires. I called three of the chains that they listed that had local stores and the product is so new that they didn't have it listed in their computers much less stocked in the store.
I was able to find an on-line store that did, that's what the link I posted was for.

One site had prices and one didn't. Think I might try this 1st to see if I like the look of white lettering. If I don't I can just cover it up and save myself the cost of a new set of tires. Will let you know what I do. Thanks again to both of you for the ideas.

cj krause 05-08-2006, 10:49 PM back in my days when i was younger, we always had white lettering. then the phase went to black out and white in and tire shine to make them look good
if you paint them white, the tire wet will be very hard to do
its old school but cool
try one to see if you like it. or use photoshop to put white letters on one of ur pics or find a tire w white letters and photoshop them in.
goodyear still makes alot of tires w white on them. blue till you wash them. we always had to say, white in or white out
good luck

CJ...if you look closely at the photo of my car that I posted in original post, I used my Paint Shop Pro program and put the RWL tires on there. Maybe I should have pointed that out. Talked to boyfriend...going to try the white stuff to see if I like the look. If I do, I'll find the Goodyear Eagles and have them put on the car. If I don't, we'll cover up the white and be done with it...and save me a bunch of money on tires for now. Thanks for the info. :thumb:
cj krause 05-08-2006, 11:05 PM i am old
that is tooooooooooooo small
no way can i see it
you could buy a very small roller at an arts and craft store and roll the top of the letters to paint them.
i might paint mine bright silver instead of white
i have Goodyear Eagle GP-H's and love them,,, hold the road so shaggy can boogy especially in the turns
Shaggy loves turns now alot,,, there is this one shamrock off 75 to go to NW highway... if there is no one there, i can get it from 30 to 80 to 90 by the time i get to the middle of the street.
one hauling nice curve,,, all in I gear. i shift alot between I and D when i drive when i am having fun.
