Hi, all!

I have acquired a black 2007 HHR Panel; I'd post a pic but it has company decals all over it, and that might be a tad too commercial for this forum!

I drove a standard for years, and hate the comparatively low gas mileage on this car...so I really enjoyed lurking on the MPG thread and seeing something mentioned that I had wondered about. Namely, recalibrating (if that is the term to use) the AT so that the tach stays at 3,000 rpm at commonly driven speeds.

Also, I am wondering if there is a special style of block heaters for HHRs, if they will do the job of what the manual calls Coolant Heater (or words to that effect), since I need one and have an installer. Just need to get the part.

Great to meet everyone.

If you click on the SEARCH button at the top right side of the forum page and then type in block heater you may find more info but here is one thread about block heaters http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19188&highlight=block+heater

Hey Arly, I can't provide you with any information of parts number with regards to the block heater but I can provide some experience. I'm in Calgary and this is my 4th winter with the HHR. I bough mine in Sept 2005 and it's a 2.4L LT fully loaded.

I have the factory block heater but have never used it. It is still wrapped up with the twist tie under the hood. Only once has my HHR not started in cold weather and that was last winter in mid Feb. This winter is the first winter that my HHR is parked outside 24/7. The last two weeks have been colder than normal, as you know, and I haven't had any problems. I don't drive very often and it will sit for between 2 and 4 days between starts and still I've experienced no problems.

I am running a 5W20 Mobil One oil.

Thanks, all!

calgaryhhr, my HHR starts also. However, it's my belief that very cold starts are hard on the engine over a period of time - any engine!

Canadian Tire was booked up solid today - and the service guy used to work for GM, and called up the "correct block heater" over $300!!!

I read the thread on block heaters and know that a person there used a "normal" one. I wonder if there is any knowledgable mechanic in Calgary or area that would know that the aftermarket heater is just as good as the expensive "name brand".

Will get it figured out!
