I know it's early for this but I would like to get the word out there.
Might any SoCal guys and gals be going to this event?

Lived in Ontario 5 yrs. I know! Sac isn't exactly a cool town in summer.
We do get 100 often, too often.

We go just about every year. Already got our entry forms in the mail with the route and all the info. This year we will be taking the 69 Chevelle and Burt's 72 Chevelle.

It will also be the anniversary of when I got my HHR. We got the call that it arrived when we were out doing the Poker Run.

Sometimes it is really hot, sometimes not. It rained one year, that sucked!

I can make it for the Saturday Sept. 16. Sunday the 17th is the Chargers home opener vs. the Titans and I'm a season ticket holder! The other days I work.

Can someone who's been there let me in on what goes on there? Besides all the cool rides...

Bad news, guys and gals, The Route 66 Rendezvous is only open to 1900 to 1973 vehicles any year Corvettes, Vipers and Prowlers, as registered participants, which mean no open header cruise for the HHRs. It is open to all as spectators. There is a cruise one week later in Costa Mesa @ the OC Fairgrounds that is billed as the largest single day car show on the west coast, Open to all rods, customs, muscle & classic cars, Corvettes, trucks, specialty vehicles, and PT Cruisers.
Cruisin' all day! Limited to 3,300 entries.
Anyone interested taking their HHR needs to call the organizers to see if they will accept a seperate class for the HHRs.

I didn't know any HHR's had headers to open up? We just go to enjoy watching and hearing vintage hotrods and muscle cars cruise with open headers. It's true, the HHR's can't participate in the run, but they are well received at the event and fit right in.

I'm afraid an HHR cruising with open headers just wouldn't "do it" for me!
(needs 4 more cylinders...)

I'm interested in going just to hang out! Park the HHR's all together to promote it and it's aftermarket parts supplier.... SoCalHHR's!

Since I live just a couple of miles above Rt 66 in San Bernardino, I'm there virtually every year. I also own three Datsuns, a 64 PU, a 78 Z, and a 79 810 2dr. Now that we have the HHR that just gives us another reason to go.

I just made my reservations for a motel and they said they are filling up fast. If you are going to the show and plan on spending the night, you might think about making your reservations NOW. Sept. 14,15,16. I think these are the right dates. You might check for sure on line.

Also, Bob Cohen @ Calif. Cruisers 708 W. Mill St. Unit "A" San Bernardino has offered to allow HHRs to use his parking area, to hang out at, and meet up with each other. Very cool shop too.

I'll be there. My ride is stock though, so no mods to really show off. Just purchased the vehicle this past Sunday and we love it. Can't wait to see some of your cars.

Darren, you should come anyway. There are some GREAT looking hot rods there every year. I think you would enjoy it.

I'm sorry I didn't find this thread until now. I haven't been able to get the search function to work, and didn't know if anyone else is going until it got bumped back up.

I plan to attend this event on Saturday. I'm trying to hook up with 1HOTHHR and his car, HARVEY --- anyway, I will have my cell phone on me and if anyone else wants to meet me, I'll be heading over to California Cruisers also, after 10AM. I believe that my e-mail shows to the public, so let me know. I never heard of this thing until this year and I'm really excited to see the old cars and the customizations. Hope to see you!

SAINTS BE PRAISED --- we're having a COOL WAVE and won't be broiling this Saturday.

Hi JT -- remember me? Hope to see you in San Bernardino. I'm out of the wheelchair and into a walking cast, but that ole chair will be in the trunk just in case :red: ... this should be a fun weekend.

It was nice to meet y'all today, enjoyed the beautiful cars, the gorgeous day, the cruisin' and got some buzniz done too. We got separated at the end whilst in the cruise, so we ended the day on foot and got some shots of some sweet rides during the "open header" contest. NOIIII-ZEEEEE cars, those open headers!!!

We were there yesterday and we are leaving now to go back. Our son's Chevelle won an award and will be in the Parade of Champions today at noon. I didn't take Bud's number with me yesterday and since my son registers in the event, the meeting point you guys went to would not have worked out for us. Maybe we will see some of you today. Look for the Tangello 69 Chevelle SNE DLYT in the cruise, that will be us. The HHR is staying home.

A big congrats on your son's win. Got alittle cursin in and had a BLAST. Got to meet Mitzkitty and HHRENVY. WOW wait to you see his ride. It is REALLY going to be GREAT. No hint of what it is going to be like, but trust me it is going to be WILD.

See ya down the road.
