I can get a smokin deal on a gold-line kit that lowers both ends. Any of you that has this kit could you tell me how the ride quality is. I love the look but I don't want to make my daily driver into a buckboard. Thanks for any replies.

I had the 1st gen Goldlines and found the ride VERY stiff. Drove well, looked great.

They have made a 2nd gen which were to have a softer ride.

Hey Car Guy, I just had Gold Lines installed about 3 weeks ago, and my HHR rides nice. I thougth it would ride stff and bumpy, but actually rides smooth. You can diffently see and feel the differnce, but does make your ride look nice.

I am not sure which Gen mine are but it lowered it about 2 inches all the way around. The ride is better than stock in my opinion and it does not blow around as much in strong crosswinds. Great mod and well worth it.
I think it looks good to.

I have the second gen aswell. It's a tiny bit firmer but thats expected and nothing thats uncomfortable or you wouldn't be able to stand. It looks great with em too and handles awsome! I would Say DO IT.

I have unknown Gen GL's and it sits 3/4 lower then my stock SS and also has a bar....wifey drives it..actually said she hasn't really noticed any difference( gotta love those blondes!!)Ive noticed it and its great. She hasn't complained yet so they must be good, she's had it in all the weather too, just wish the law would quit following her!!!I guess they like it too or just waiting for her to get on that "hot rod"..(stock otherwise) j

I installed a set of 3rd gen GL's on mine about 2 years ago and the ride was okay at first but after a couple of thousand miles the ride was extremely harsh over bumps, i think the struts blew. The dealer said their fine but i am waiting to get some more money and buy the KYB struts, that are now available.

Hey guys, I know there has to more than 7 of you who have these springs. I would appreciate any feedback as to ride quality or any other issues. I just don't want to make a mistake. Thanks, Mark

I don't have Goldlines but i have Eibach and i love the ride quality, besides the stock struts and shocks. If you don't change those the ride quality will be greatly reduced with Gls or Eibachs.

Quit spreading your lies...lol

I didn't notice much difference. The springs will 'overpower' the shocks/struts if you hit a big bump and you'll get a little more bounce, but that's about it.

Well it all depends on what ride quality is to the person, if you want a cushion of air stay stock, if you want a bouncy trampoline keep stock shocks and put lowering spring on.

I noticed an immediate ride improvement with the Goldline lowering springs. Does not move around in crosswinds or as "Mushy" and seems more stable and smooth riding. I got the Goldlines but not sure which Gen. and stock struts and shocks.

Get the FE5 struts and shocks. Way better than the kyb struts, Those are just generic remakes of the stock. If your spending money might as well be for better parts.

If you can get a great deal on the gl's go for it. Seven people to me saying they're pretty good and worth it is more than enough for me. Plus if you dont like em yourself you can always switch back and sell em for your money back. :twothumbs

..... if you want a bouncy trampoline keep stock shocks and put lowering spring on.

I would dispute that. Have 2gen gl's/stock shocks and there is no bounce. This thing rides like a caddy compared to my other lowered vehicles.

BTW - it's not lowered in the pic below.

Ok so Eibach or Goldine ? I'm looking to improve the handling and of course the look at the same time, which one's the best ?

It's kind of like comparing Ford to Chevy without ever owning both! We have the Eibach Pro Kit with FE5 Struts and Shocks and "LOVE" it! Have never owned GL's but as you can see the majority are pleased with there purchase! Our Eibach / FE5 / Progressive Sway Bar set up is "A LOT" firmer than stock but is not to firm as to be unenjoyable as ours is a Dailey Driver!

Good Luck,

I have the 1st gen springs, and the ride is the best I've ever had from a lowered car.

Although this statement is only true with the stock 17's.

I currently have 18's with a lower profile tire and its not the best over bumps.

I hit a "defect" in the local freway and it bent the rim all the way across from outside edge to inside edge

Ride quality is subjective. Two people will probably have two different opinions. Lowering a vehicle, will change the ride quality. Whether good or bad, it's a personal judgement call. I've done lowering in the past and it road good before and after. Lowering springs are stiffer than stock, they have to be.

My last lowered vehicle went from this....

To this in a matter on months....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/solman98/P2240005.jpg

This was achieved with lowering springs, spindles and shocks for the front. Drop leafs & shackles along with shocks on the back along with a c-notch.

If you can ride in one first, do that. May save you a lot of headache later....
