We're having a really good time down here! Charlie's a funny guy, with a lot of stories. We are more than happy to welcome him to the Appearance Plus family!
Low Tone 05-18-2006, 06:38 PM Put Shaggy's two tone paint with Shnog's fly rims, and I'd be in heaven.
SIHHR 05-18-2006, 06:48 PM Looks good. Its nice to see members pose there cars together
courthousedeb 05-18-2006, 07:00 PM Nice photos...thanks for sharing them. Sounds like you guys are having a great time together. :thumb:
dan-d 05-18-2006, 11:08 PM Wow, I wish I'd have known you two were going to meet up at your shop. I would have joind you.
Tokyo 05-18-2006, 11:11 PM Brother, CJ's here 'till next week! Whaddya' drink?
(Pssst: You can come out to the car show in Melbourne with us, we can triple-team them with our HHR's, under the AP Motorsports banner)
dan-d 05-18-2006, 11:30 PM well although my car is way outta alignment due to the bags, let's g2g before he leaves. Either my place or yours....you make the call.
Let me clairify something here. The lack of alighment has nothing to do with the kit, it's just me....I haven't decided what I want as my ride height yet...I keep changing my mind...LOL
dan-d 05-18-2006, 11:35 PM I haven't done the alignment thingy yet only cause we're working on an issue regarding ride height. The kit is awsome, but in the event I might have to make some minor changes I don't want to have the alignment done just to redo it again.
Tokyo 05-18-2006, 11:36 PM I'll chat up CJ in the morning, maybe we can split the difference (well, sorta') and meet up in Cocoa Beach for some pics and dinner?
You just have to resist "Hitting Switches" while you're around us, or we may be writing some checks made out to SoCalHHR's that night!!
BlackHHR 05-18-2006, 11:41 PM I like the pics. You have the new school HHR and the old school HHR. looking good.
dan-d 05-18-2006, 11:51 PM I'll chat up CJ in the morning, maybe we can split the difference (well, sorta') and meet up in Cocoa Beach for some pics and dinner?

Well, since I'm just a bit north of Cocoa we could meet here at my place and have dinner here. This would give you folks an idea of where we have our g2g's and why. As far as not hitting switches goes....be prepared to send Mike a check...haha
We could meet in Cocoa, that's not a problem. There's a place on Cocoa Beach called the Grill, we could meet there for dinner.
ng8650 05-18-2006, 11:51 PM S & S looking cool together. Talk CJ into bagging his HHR...:D

well if we pull this off it would be S&S&S since my car is called Sub Sub....or would that be S&S&S&S...LOL
SoCalHHR 05-19-2006, 12:00 AM OK - now we demand a CJ Sandwich pic; Shnog, Shaggy & Sub Sub - in that order! :D
2 Blacks with Daytona Blue in the middle! :thumb:
Tokyo 05-19-2006, 12:15 AM Man Mike, you're pushy! lol
We shall find a way to get together. I think The Grille would be awesome, and I VERY MUCH appreciate the invitation to your home, Dan-D! How cool is that??!!
That's why HHR owners rock; you won't find that kind of stuff on those "ricer" sites... Oh no, it would be more like "My spoilers bigger than yours" or "My exhaust sounds MUCH more like a hornets nest that that one!"!!! My Inner Asian is profoundly unhappy that I'm not behind the wheel of a ricer... But to hell with that, Shnog (and every other HHR, Shaggy and Sub-Sub) ROCKS!!
dan-d 05-19-2006, 12:22 AM OK, keep in mind that Tokyo is oriental. And Charlie is white. I'm a filipino from Hawaii so where does that put me....hahaha
Tokyo 05-19-2006, 12:28 AM LOL, but even more funny, where does that put Charlie??!!
So it's official! In this thread, on this forum, 100% of the posting members who drive Black HHRs are of Asian/Pacific Islander descent!

Tokyo 05-19-2006, 12:58 AM hey wait i drive a black one and i'm white and i just posted  :D
Of course some (one who is not of Asian/Pacific Islander decent) had to ruin it! (Edited to appease the masses)
I rescend my critical statistic from above and supply you with this, instead:
The Vast Majority of the posting members (in the above posts, take that!) who drive Black HHRs are of Asian/Pacific Islander descent!
SIHHR 05-19-2006, 08:31 AM You guys are too funny. I laughed out loud as I read this. I'm glad Dan-D and Tokyo are showing Charlie a good time. Its good to know that we have nice members on this site who open up there doors to members from other states. If anyone is ever around Staten Island, NY there are always welcome to hang out. HHR owners are always welcome
ng8650 05-19-2006, 09:41 AM Of course some cr**ker had to ruin it! (JUST KIDDING, JOKE, HA, HA)

Hey, Puerto Rico is an island...Does that count? If so then count me in! :D

Black Beauty 05-19-2006, 01:19 PM Got one quick question,
do the grills require cutting and fitting peices to oem, or are they bolt on units?
dan-d 05-19-2006, 01:44 PM Got one quick question,

The Stull grille I have requires cutting up the stock unit, it retains the top and end grille frames for use with the Stull unit. And I beleive the Grille Tokyo has retains just the top part of the stock grille.

Yup, the top part and the black plastic frame that goes around the opening. It's the same Carriage Works grille that I have.

Somethings wrong with this picture. Yes my car is a ground hugger, and I appreciate being called young. My grand kids say I'm as old as dirt...
dan-d 05-19-2006, 01:57 PM So have we got any ideas on meeting up? We gonna meet here and maybe grill up some grub or would you like to meet up on Cocoa beach at the Grill, my wife could go for not cooking. She makes out both way's. Eating at the Grill = no cooking for her. Grilling on our grill = no cooking for her. Either works fine for me. -Dan

Sounds to me like the wife is off the hook.

The grill I have , requires no cutting.. just removal of some frame work from the stock grill.. to be used in mounting the new one....
courthousedeb 05-19-2006, 02:03 PM Besides Dan-d...I think you guys would have more fun taking your rides out to a public restaurant for all to see. They'll be like

Good point Deb. The Grill Restraunt is down on the docks, lots of public there. It's located on the water and they have a huge parking lot where we could take some pictures. We could eat some good food and then maybe caravan down through Cocoa Beach, then through Merritt Island, UP SR-3 to 405, then take US-1 through Titusville, and on to my place to see the shop. -Dan :D
Tokyo 05-19-2006, 07:16 PM Sounds like a plan to me, Dan! Since the Melbourne car show got cancelled (darn High School Seniors and their silly Graduation), we're gonna' be free this weekend. I'll give you a ring tomorrow, when CJ's with me, and we'll set it up!
About the grille: I have the Carriage Works unit. The only part retained, like CH said, is the upper beauty bar. The rest is replaced with the CW unit. The lower grille takes roughly 10 minutes to install.
Tokyo 05-19-2006, 10:09 PM A note about something I posted earlier. I had made a joke based on the differences between racial backgrounds. One member deemed this offensive enough to PM me about it, which tells me that perhaps there are more of you who were offended, without bringing to my attention.
Just as I told the member in my reply, I do apologize. Sincerely, for offence towards a particular race, color, or creed was not my intent.
Rather, (being half Irish and half Vietnamese), this is a type of humour that I regularly use. Having lived outside of this country for the majority of my life, I've learned any one statement has the potential to offend an individual, or group with special interests.
If you were offended, I'm sorry, and I'll try to refrain from using that brand of humour again.
