ever play the gas game

i was taking my gf home tonight and i needed gas and i was like i can make it there and back. then after denying that you need gas you start praying that you make it to the gas station. i stalled pulling into the gas station and put in 17 gallons. man was she thirsty.

the one time i got to the station and was beyond low in the first place (this was in my sunbird) and the line at the station was huge because they had it cheap, no other stations nearby, so i had to wait, i was praying that i wouldn't run out of gas waiting in line for it... It was close. Benefit of that car was that it was small enough I could go to any pump and just pull the pump to the side i needed.

Another time (same car) i was on my way to high school, back in the day, and i run out of gas on the way to school, right in the freakin driveway. So I had to call my mom and she got a tank of my dad's out of the barn, and brought it to me. But she grabbed a tank with like nothing in it. So i got the car started, went and parked and went to school. Got out, and went to go to the station, got stuck behind some jerk who didn't want to make a left at the stupid intersection as we sat there and wait through 3 or 4 lights. So i gave up, went straight through the light and tried to go around the area, yeah, didn't make it. Ran out of gas a few blocks from the station, luckily at a friends house and rolled into their driveway. So they lent me a gas can and i walked and got some to get me to the station, to finish the fill up.

Never drove the the Z-Ride that low to empty and as far as I travel every day I can not play this game because if I loose I will be on one of the 5 Highways that it takes me to just get to work or coming home from work it's 56 miles from my house to work it take me 44 min to get to work and sometimes 3 hrs + just to get home. As you can see I must really love my Job and I really do.

Shouldnt really let your fuel gauge get to empty, cos it makes the fuel pump work harder & shortens the life of it !!

I had no choice but to play that game in my '87 Jeep (gas gauge didn't work below ¼ tank), and lost!

I lost that gamble once a long time ago. I still try it every now and again. When the low fuel light warning and bell go on, its like a challange to see how far I can go.

I don't trust the gas gauge in my truck since it bounces around all day long, so because of that I would always fill up at a quarter. That became habit, and it's kinda stuck with me. I don't like risking it. Jumping train tracks...fun! Running on empty..not. I don't quite get my mentality.

(I don't jump the tracks anymore after I saw what happened to someones car after they did that!)
