I installed a set of Gold Line Gen 2 lowering springs on my 08 LT about a month ago. I have nothing bad to say about the ride or the look but.... Recently the left front has started making popping noises but only when turning the wheel. The install was easy and quick and all instructions were followed to the "T". Any suggestions?

sounds like the coils are hitting each other. There is a fix that you slide tubing over the coil where it is making contact.

I had my son turn the wheel stop to stop while I watched the strut assy. I could not identify what was making the noise. It did not appear that the noise was coming from the strut but i did notice the springs turned on the bottom plate of the strut when the wheel turned. Is there an aftermarket spring "seat" that I should be looking into? The other three corners are not making any noise even after a 3200 mile road trip I took with my son to D.C.

My bmw did the same thing the first time around the block when i came back after the test drive i told the shop and they put in some kinda of foam spacer or something in and its still find today good luck

make sure the spring is seated into the cup correctly...you could be on the edge of where the end of the spring is supposed to sit ( theres a drop point where the end sets),,its possible that the spring is moving because its not seated into the cup correctly...

When I reassembled the strut assy I made sure to seat the spring properly but now the spring and strut are not functioning as one unit. Shouldn't the spring and strut twist/turn as one unit? I have checked all of the mounting points, nuts, bolts, washers, everything. Nothing is loose. My biggest problem is that all of my tools and equipment were recently lost in a fire so I have no way of fixing this problem myself, which is a position I am not used to. So, before I take Scooter somewhere I want to have the problem identified to avoid the delays and charges of diagnosis.

I noticed another problem today with the lowering springs. I just got back from the tire shop where they rotated my tires. When the tech put Scooter on the lift the rear springs fell out. I have read somewhere else that another HHR has a similar problem. The comment was not the subject of the thread so the search can not find it. I know why they fell out, I just wonder with all the knowledge on this site if someone found a soloution.

Ok then..sounds like the upper bearing is locked up or not installed correctly causing it to lock up....as far as the rears go....several options discussed, but no results posted....easiest way is to maybe use an old tie down strap and make a limiting stap to limit extension of the rear axles( minus the ratchet and hook ends..instead fold the ends and use large washers over the attaching bolts) Easy and quiet

yea i cant remember his SN i think its LEE..... something along those lines his also did the same thing.Seems to only happen with the GLs i haven't had any issues with my eibachs.
