View Full Version : Raced 98 GTP and a 97 Cobra
Geoff 04-16-2009, 10:27 PM I have raced 2 people with the SS, first race was against a 98 GTP, mods are ported blower, pulley, headers, and tuned computer, ran from a DIG and when i hit second pulled a car and then 3rd gear pulled a few more cars.. From a 30 roll i just walked away and let off in 3rd gear.
I ran my buddy in his 97 Cobra tonight. just wanting to see how the HHR would stand up to his car. His car is modded and put down little over 300 to the wheels, we did a did, I crewed up the launch and to 100 he had me by 3-4 cars.. we did a 30 roll and he had me by about 2-3 cars, then went from a 40 roll, we were side by side till 3rd and he pulled about 1-2 cars on me.. then to topo it all off, we pulled out onto the highway and i stomped on it in 1st and hit 2nd gear.. i looked back to see if he was there. and i stayed 2 cars in front of him.. but i got the hit and he wasn't coming up on me :) just wait til i get a tune and a few more mods :)
AaronSS 04-20-2009, 11:58 PM Good kills. 2v Mustangs are turds.
Jaxon 07-06-2009, 03:58 AM Well, I know this thread is old but cobras are 4v cars. Not just that, but to be putting down 300whp in a 96-98 car, it is going to need long tubes, no cats, pullies, intake, ported short runner intake manifold, MAF, along with some other things and one HELL of a tune.
Geoff 07-07-2009, 12:58 PM It does have most of what you posted, His dyno sheet said 304 to the wheels. And yes it is a 4v.
His best 1/8 mile is a 8.4 and his best 1/4 mile is 13.1
Geoff 07-07-2009, 01:03 PM Here are a few videos of us racing! His 97 Cobra and me in the wives 97 WS6 Trans Am

Jaxon 07-08-2009, 01:11 PM Still in the 13s with 300rwhp? I ran a 13 flat with bolt ons and no rear suspension at a higher elevation. Good race though, I had never been beaten by a LT1 unless it had extreme engine work. Even beat a couple HCI LT1s.
Geoff 07-08-2009, 06:14 PM Our T/A is stock with full exhaust, and run 13's and is an LT-1
Jaxon 07-08-2009, 07:43 PM Wow, must be a factory freak lol. I am glad I got rid of the ford. I should've never bought one. I wanted a 99+ t/a (don't want a first model year) but my parents wouldnt cosign for a 10k loan for one. I convinced them to cosign on the 9k loan on my cobra, wish I would've gotten the 10k 6spd t/a I looked at. Couldn't get an interest rate I was happy with with my own credit alone.
Geoff 07-11-2009, 10:21 AM 2000+ models are better. They say that the LS-1 cars would blow away the LT-1 cars. But, i beg to deffer. I have beaten alot of LS-1 cars with the out LT-1. BTW it has 138,000 miles on it :) it is a 6-speed as well.
Geoff 07-11-2009, 10:24 AM Here is a video of me running a 99 vette with a stroker motor he ran a 12.7

Jaxon 07-15-2009, 04:54 PM Nice, alot of cars make me wish I had kept my cobra, but then I remember how much of a pain it was LOL.

Hey Geoff,
Nice WS6!!! I had one just like it before I bought my 98 Formula but black. You must have a strong LT1. My LS1 stock vs stock is much faster than my LT1. Hold on to that bad boy, it will be worth a lot in years to come because they didn't make that many of them.
Geoff 07-21-2009, 06:49 PM thanks man, it's the wifes car, and she doesn't plan on getting rid of it for nothing :)
