The stock SRT is faster but a SS with a stage kit should take it.

The SRT also has much much worse torque steer.

Handling also better in the HHR but as Hyperv6 said, in a staright line, stock vs stock we come second.

That was a terrible start by the SS.

With the right driver, the abundant torque steer of the Dork SRT can be controlled. With the added HP, it would then have an advantage over the HHR SS in stock form.

I made the mistake of spending 3 minutes reading the comments attached to that video. It's beyond me how people can have blatantly wrong "facts" in the age of the interwebs. SS weighing in at 4200 lbs? Cobalt SS with a base 275 hp? The Cobalt SS "is nothing more than a base cobalt with a bigger motor in it"??? C'mon people...

Never mess with an SRT driver. They have huge biceps from controlling that torque steer.

Well if he's weak, his SRT may end up becoming part of your HHR's door panel.

I just raced one at the track tonight and beat it, I ran a 14.7 and he ran a 14.9, I did get a better launch though. He wasnt a novice either. I have stock 5Sp w/LSD. We both consistantly ran around 14.8 all night. Its too bad we couldnt get staged up again. It's a drivers race with the HHRSS and the SRT4.

Its not so much how fast you go, but how good you look going fast,,, HHR SS hands down winner....:one:

I started hunting for a new car a couple of weeks ago.
I really liked the Cobalt SS until I got hooked on the HHR SS (I'll be driving mine by Tuesday).
I've noticed a few Calibers on the street since I started comparing other cars with the HHR.
The Caliber is as fugly as a :barf:Pontiac Aztek IMHO.

Yes, I am re-hashing another thread... sorry! But I found this in a review:

The HHR SS' closest competitor is the Dodge Caliber SRT-4, and there's no contest here -- the SRT-4 sucks, the HHR doesn't. The Dodge is faster in a straight line -- not that you can drive it in a straight line, what with all the torque steer -- but aside from that, everything the SRT-4 gets wrong, the HHR SS does right.

I thought it was a good quote! And pertinent to this topic.

Not really....They make aftermarket motor mount inserts and traction bars for them...Practically gets rids of most of the torque steer.

Easy upgrade with those mods (poly motor mount inserts/traction bars),plus larger sway bars/coilovers/strut bar/fender braces..That'll help handling:steering:

Also the MOPAR Stage 1 performance ECU is available...Increases HP and torque..

I used to own an HHR 2LT,it was great,no complaints (except for the pesky rotor problems)

Sold it to my brother-in-law...Was choosing between the HHR SS and the CSRT...Made my choice on the CSRT...Stout motor,Getrag 6-spd trans....Lots of mods available..

I do respect for the HHR SS;they're very nice vehicles and will surprise quite a few vehicles and nice mods for them are available...

Nahhh..Motor mount inserts (Modern Performance) about 100.00;traction bars (BWoody) about 150.00 or so..
I'm pretty sure that those two vendors have stuff for HHRs..

Oops;stand corrected the stuff is for Cobalts SSs

I get some now with with my new mods...Time to adjust them again;LOL!!!
