I just discovered that my 2.4 with auto limits at 4000 RPM.I was sitting in Park at the time and would gouge on the pedal and no matter how hard I
pushed it stayed at 4K.MY Miata with a 1.8 would buzz up to red line (about 7K) So I kinda expected a little more from the2.4 although the tach only tops out at 6K... Is this the normal rev limit point???

very normal. the manufactures have to protect there products from high warranty claims.

I don't know if I have a rev limiter under the hood, but I know that I have one sitting next to me when I drive.

LOL I had the same thing ;It was worse when I had the Miata, especially on curves on an off ramp at 70 MPH,, but it would hug those curves.. so I cannot exactly do the same with the HHR.. She is happy ...

The actual rev limiter should be just past red line, however, some manufactures have a low rev limiter for no load conditions and 4k sounds pretty reasonable, although I wouldn't ever rev my engine up very high with out a load, rods tend to break under those conditions.

I tried once with my 2.2L 5 speed and it will stop at 6600rpm. Man where the tires smoking after the clutch came out.

O-YA she did and his the second gear limit and smoked a bit in third. The guy in the pt Looser must of sh#t his pants. I coundn't see him as he was so far back and there was so much smoke. O ya and a $150 for stunting. I was well worth it.
