HHR 2.4 live flash tune

We reflash your OEM ECM/TCM starting with the latest GM software update.
Then creating a custom tune for you biased on you requirements [ Octane, shift points , speed limiter, shift firmness,Torque management , and that dam 4k rev limiter in Park or Neutral .]

In testing we have got 4 mpg better avg on the DIC [ it is off but it's slightly less then actual . ] I cannot guarantee any gain ................... Your gota be flooring it when ever you can .....LOL

One of our testers is an auto, if you floor it from a stop you will be greeted with ========= then T/C engages . I was very impressed with the car after the flash . It felt like it lost 3-400lbs . There is a slight increase in intake and exhaust growl under full throttle , an increase in air pumping capacity . Dyno numbers will be coming soon . You will be impressed .

Retail is $ 495 for ECM and $100 for the TCM .

These electronic mods sound exciting!:D

However, I'm old school and the cars I tune are Corvairs, so I'll need some pointers in this new learning curve.

A couple of definitions needed for we who have not "tuned" these new cars:

1) Engine Control Units "ECU"

2 ) Transmission Control Units "TCM"

And the other acronym, which we do not have in the HHR?
3) Body Control Modules "BCM"

My frind who runs http://www.thedodgegarage.com/ has been talking about these types of upgrades for years, but I have never really paid attention to it. Even when I owned my Taurus SHO for twelve years I never went out and got the "speed chip", etc. Now with this fun little HHR I am feeling the need to learn. So could some one detail a bit on the how toos and such?

I need , and I'm sure others do to, some guidance in such matters. I am ignorant in this arena and wish to know more.

To start,
1) Where is this firmware chip/board located? Does it remove easily?
2) How will this effect warantees?
3) If so, should one have a spare "stock chip" to put back in when going in for repairs?
4) Any websites explaining this stuff? www.tunetimeperformance.com has some info, perhaps all that is needed really, other than the details like how to remove the ECU, etc. Just trying to get up to speed here.
5)Will the cars pass inspection after the mod?
6) More questions to come I'm sure, but this is a start.........

Thanks in advance, and excuse my ignorance, but I did not grow up repairing cars with computers in them. Micro processor boards and chips are newfangled tools and I guess I'd better get on the boat and be edumacated about them!:red: :D

The ECM and when equip with auto TCM are located under a black cover in front of the battery . To remove them you only need your hands . They are encased in metal boxes .

As far as warranty's go . The dealer can't see it with there Tech 2 . If they by chance do a software up date and rewrite the ECM we will flash it for free . We also have a local Chevy dealer that resales for us . working on Cadillac/hummer next.

Spare core/Stock chip it's up to you, it will cost you about $ 300 for the ECM and $150 for the TCM . You can source the core's from who ever you want .

Yes they will pass inspection after the mod actually they run cleaner .

If there is anything else feel free to ask .

Thanks

And bolt-ons! Right now we have like two different CAIs and two different cat-backs. Not much in the way of aftermarket performance parts for the HHR yet.

Hi Matt. I'm definitely interested, but will not have time to get down to you 'till later in the summer. I figure a ride to Jersey will be in order and with staffing, etc at my store, I cannot realistically get there for a month or so.
I need to change my muffler and intake first. May as well be set up that way for the tune.

I'm unfamilar with how Tuner businesses work. But I'd be concerned for those in California, whether this would be CARB exempt. And with the OBD sytstem whether any changes to the programming would casue a red flag to show up on the dealer's diag computer the next time a person took their HHR in.

Guys I when I get the dyno #'s that will mean I have this dam COLLAR off my neck ... LOL As far as CARB or Your dealer there is NO way for them to see anything . I have a Chevy dealer as a reseller and we have the infamous TECH 2 that the dealer uses.

I was told by the service department at my local dealership that messing with the computer would void the warranty. Anyone have any experience with this?

If the dealer can't see the new programming it's easy to deny changing anything, but what's the explanation if they take it for a test drive after service/repair? High Octane? I get the impression from my dealer that they are not looking for a reason to deny warranty work, but I dont want to put something in front of them that'll raise a red flag.

Can you post some photos or a how-to that shows where all these parts are located?

1st why would they be beeting on your car ? unless they drove them back to back and they both had super in them they may wonder. They are more concerned with getting to the next job then figuring out why your car is more responsive then the last one. I understand your concerns but have to tell you this will never happen . No question .

BTW If your running or have gone between 93 and 87 octane I can make 87 with our tune better then stock on 93 . They do recomend super and I notice my economy falls off when stock and running 87oct .

Great I want in on the group buy. I still have to change my intake and muffler though. Any chance on a time extension? I want the ECM and tranny tune done after the Intake/exhaust mods and I'm ordering them today.
Perhaps pay now and get a raincheck?

Also, I go to Massachusetts often, where is your affiliated Mass dealer located?

Ok, Thanks for the update. I want to get the Imco mufler on and then I guess we'll be ready for the tune.
Still wondering who your affiliate in Mass is, as they are likely closer than NJ to many of us up here.
