View Full Version : Does anyone have a majestic amethyst HHR?

I have a feeling that this is going to be the least popular color. There is a majestic amethyst HHR that has been sitting on one of the local lots ever since they hit my area. It could also be that it is a base model with only two options. It has the spoiler and the premium stereo. I think they stocked it to try and appeal to the youth market (cheap, odd color, big spoiler, and a OK stereo) but it has backfired on them.

I live in Monroe, Georgia and their is a lady with one in our town. Mine is Black and side by side it makes hers look a totally different car. In my oppinion, very ugly. In our area, I have seen a two black ones, including mine, a dark silver grey, a blue, the orange, the beige bronze, by the way; very nice and the purple.

Not to sound sexist but I think women are going to be the :one: buyer of that color. ;) My choice of colors was either dark silver or black. I went with dark silver because I found a dark silver 2LT on a local lot with all the options I wanted. If I wanted black with my choice of options I would have had to order from the factory and wait or dealer swap and not see my vehicle until it arrives. I'm not a very patient man so I signed on the one that was avalible.

I have the Beige Bronze (Sandstone) the nice one (HA), in the Atlanta area, live in Sugar Hill, Ga (North Atlanta Gwinnett County), work in south Atlanta.

HHR's are popping up all over Atlanta area. When I was looking, dealers here were selling the loaded ones, pretty quickly. Lower end ones, not as quick, just an observation, not in depth knowledge though!!

Maybe see you Holmes, out cruising!!

I think you are right about the purple. Mine is black and have installed running lites above running board, under the door pannel. The lites are amber. Had Wild Willies install. Look cool. My interior is tan leather. Do you by any chance ever come to the Conyers area? Maybe the Sandstone was yours, I saw.

Sorry, I'm not trying to offend! I personaly don't think you'll see to many on the road so you could end up with a rarer HHR than the rest. Did you have your heart set on that color when you chose to get a HHR or did you choose it off of the lot? I'm not a big fan of purple but I have seen a couple of nice dark purple older cars that I have liked. My former neighbor had a dark purple 68' Camaro and it looked nice.

Actually it was the only one on the lot. I really wanted Daytona Blue but salesperson at the dealership that I was dealing with told me I'd have to wait a week and a half to get it (that was after she at first told me a day or two) when I was already at the lot ready to buy. I didn't want to wait so I went somewhere else and got it. :D

If that has a spoiler, then the dealer bought a primered spoiler and did the paint himself because they are not available from the factory (even though they are not installed in Mexico, shipped from England) with a spoiler. I would be interesed if they have an OEM or after market spoiler...

I interested in what you see, the amethyst is an odd color and you are probably correct. Maybe they thought a spoiler would give it more appeal. I know the dealer I bought my 2LT from sold one to his mother - 2LT, It looked fine, just an odd color, but hey, she was smiling! lol

I bought a 2LT with Majestic Amethyst and am thrilled with the color. And I am definitely NOT a girl. I was not looking for this color originally (based on pictures on website) until I saw it at the dealership.

The color is very unique and, as others have said, changes colors depending on the lighting conditions. It can appear light bluish-purple in direct sunlight to dark grey in dusk/overcast, etc. As a consequence, it's also pretty hard to photograph accurately. Definitely see worth seeing it in person.

The color looks better on overcast days. The spoiler was not mentioned on the build sheet so I know it had to be added by the dealership. Now they have also added running boards and chip deflectors trying to sell it.

Just happen to know here in Plymouth they have "Red Hatters"! I have nothing against the color, matter of fact it almost has that chrome illusion effect. There isn't a color I wouldn't take in an HHR. I'll be hornswaggled, they put a spoiler on it. I know when I ordered mine they did not offer it as an option for the color. You should have spent the extra $105 for the premium mats. :thumb: They look great! They are thick with HHR embroidery and the color matches just fine. You can buy them from GM but it will cost more than if you took the option. You should have opted for the $115 premium cargo mat also, the embroidery and color matches the front mats.
