View Full Version : Drilled/Slotted Rotors & Pads Coming Soon!
SoCalHHR 06-19-2006, 03:36 PM We are now a distributor for SP Performance Brake Rotors (http://www.socalhhrs.com/catalog/item/2608356/3160388.htm)and they will be making us several different styles of rotors for the front of your HHR:
Full Cross-Drilled
Slotted
Drilled & Slotted
Diamond Slotted
This allows YOU the HHR owner to choose which style you want. Visit our site for details on the various designs.
ALL rotors will be available in your choice of either the standard "Zinc Wash" silver or a show quality Nickel Plated version ($40 upcharge).
Due to the extra process, nickel plated sets can take up to 3 weeks for delivery...(but are well worth it!). :thumb:
We will also have SP Performances "Street Plus" Brake Pads (http://www.socalhhrs.com/catalog/item/2608356/3160659.htm)available soon. These pads work well through wide temperature ranges and offer no dust, no noise, no fading for superior stopping power. Visit our site for details, and if this is something you are interested in, get your order in early as the first shipment is expected to sell out quick.
*Remember that Nickel Plated orders will take up to 3-weeks to arrive.
We are also trying to develop a rear disc conversion kit that will be more affordable than what is currently available on the market.
Stay tuned!
Lee3333 06-19-2006, 05:38 PM Rear disks-now we're talking. What type of price range is expected?
SoCalHHR 06-19-2006, 06:02 PM I'll post news when I have some. Right now we're still in the development stage.
As mentioned, we are targeting to stay under the current RSM kit price ($900).

WAY UNDER I HOPE.
SoCalHHR 06-19-2006, 06:30 PM Me too!
Lee3333 06-19-2006, 07:36 PM Me three.
I need to be able to convince my wife of the safety benefits. Personally, I am looking foward to:
Easier to change pads than shoes
Hate to admit it, but LOOKS. I hate seeing those rusty old drums. But, the HHR is old school, and...
TX-HHR 06-21-2006, 10:37 PM Mike, can you post a picture that shows the two finishes side by side?
SoCalHHR 06-22-2006, 01:24 AM Hi TX - SP does not have any pictures of the Zinc Wash finishes - they say it was too hard to get good photos of. Once we get some Zinc finish rotors in, I'll try to get some good pics of them. For now, I will defer you to the pic (Zinc), posted by UPSTATEHHR, and put his pic beside one of the Nickel Plated finishes:

For me, it's well worth the extra $40 to have them plated. Plating takes an additional 2-3 weeks (as they send them out), but the look is well worth it....
Harpozep 06-22-2006, 02:08 AM Nice looking options!
Any interference with ABS for those of us who have it?
Any discs to the rear would need address the needs of the ABS/ Traction control crowd as well. That is if they can be addressed. My bet is the stock ABS setup would need some overhauling as well.
I'd be interested in a stopping test someday between a standard HHR and one outfitted with FW discs.
A test that shows a real improvement in stopping will go a long way in convincing significant others that the cash out lay is worth it for safety alone!;) :D

Whoa, Nickel plated, would look good on my SANDSTONE HHR, hummm!!!!

It's the reflection making them look that color. Nickle plating is really bright silver kind of like chrome. Take a nickle out of your pocket and look at it, that's what nickle plating looks like.
TX-HHR 06-22-2006, 09:17 AM Thanks Mike....:thumb: ....one more item to add to my wish list!

No testing here - I'm done with that! People can believe what they want...they will anyway. Besides, 99% of those who buy these rotors are doing it for looks more than performance. Check out SP's site (http://www.sp-performance.com/Diamond.htm)though - they know what they're doing with rotors; and the benefits slotting adds for degassing and improved braking have been previously documented.
More importantly, their "Street Plus" pads will help keep your rotors and wheels clean. They use a special "low resin" formula, which reduces brake dust. They are an excellent upgrade whether you are changing rotors or staying with stock. Better braking + cleaner wheels = I'm in! :thumb:
GDZHHR 06-27-2006, 07:59 PM Look what I found in the mail today!!!

GDZHHR 06-27-2006, 08:51 PM I'm actually gonna wait for the springs to have em all done at once.
captain howdy 06-27-2006, 08:53 PM Why? It shouldn't take that long to put rotors on an HHR. You only have to do the front, unless you're hvrod.
GDZHHR 06-27-2006, 08:55 PM Never done it before.
Plus if I waited for me to do things they would never get done!!:D

I know the feeling all too well! :roflol: Good thing I don't have to pay myself or I would always be dissatisfied with the service. :rof: I guess my work is worth the wait.

yeah..
plus my those rotors wouldn't fit my vehicle..
cause their a bit larger....
I don't think I'll be able to stop with those..
hvrod 09-25-2006, 05:02 PM Check this vendor for rotors too..
Seems like good prices.. =link edit
