I was watching last weeks episode of Parking Wars on my DVR, believe it was in Philadelphia. The Parking Officer was going to give a white HHR Panel a parking ticket for parking in a truck only area. When the Driver showed up and told him to look at the plates... HHR Truck plates... the Officer had to cancel the ticket..... He stated... "It sure dont look like a truck"

I saw that too. The HHR is listed as a truck, same as the PT Cruiser. The manufacturers do that to lower the CAFE standards for their truck fleet. I have regular plates on my HHR.

I know that when I bought my first HHR, when my temporary tag expired and I had to goto the BMV for license plates, they asked me if it was a commercial vehicle. I aksed the lady what she meant and she told me that the HHR can be registered commercial or non-commercial (commercial if you are useing it for your business or job). I kinda chuckled at the lady and said, um no this is my personal vehcile, which it is,lol. That was when I didnt know to much about the HHR.

In that show they love to ticket everyone. Though it is entertaining to watch, if I had to live there I think I would end up in Jail.

I seen that one on A&E also. The officer seemed almost bewildered about an HHR panel.

I wouldn't want to register mine as a truck, there's a BIG difference in PA's annual registration fees:
Cars: $36
Trucks less than 5,000 lbs: $58
Trucks 5001 - 7000 lbs: $81 *
* One of the reasons I got the HHR, my Silverado was 81 bucks a year...

That's funny! In Michigan they did away with car/truck plates a few years ago. My truck used to have the old plate up until they changed them a few years ago as well. Now it's just all the same.
