Is it me or are the Chevrolet dealerships scam artists !!

i have an LS,so i have the Steel Wheels with hubcaps,as most mine rattle horrible. I read about a TSB on a fix for this problem apparently its an insulator package (part #88950636) to stop the rattles... so this morning at 8am i went down too the Chevy Dealership, stopped in the service department, and spoke with an advisor and told him my prob, he came out and looked at my truck and said yes they DO have and package to solve my problem......but its not covered under the factory warrenty. i arguded with him about this and he brought in his Service manager to clarifie that chevy wasnt not responsible to cover the charge for the parts nor the labor.they wanted $12.95 per wheel insulator(needs 4)plus 1 hour labor to install the rubber insulator on the hubcaps. give me a break !!!!

guess i'll just go to autozone and see what i can find !

I think you'd better just plan a trip out to SoCal and swap me for the 16" alloys. We need those stockers for track/dyno wheels!

Ditch the 'caps, get the alloys! :thumb:

Well...I would do one of 2 things.

1. Get the wheels from Mike if possible...they will look much better than stock with hubcaps anyway.

2. Go to another Chevrolet dealership and get a 2nd opinion. Unfortunately, not all dealerships are as accomodating as others.

I have the steelies as well, do you have any idea what the insulator package is? I do not notice the rattles now since I took off the Hubcaps.

I would venture to guess it's a weatherstripping of sorts that would keep the hubcaps from rubbing directly against the rims so you don't have direct contact between the two. Can't be much for $12.95 a wheel.

ya they are 3 pieces(per wheel) of Form fitted weather stripping with a sticky side that attatches to the hubcap.

mike id love to have the alum 16's you have, but i really love the tires(BFG's) that i currently have on my steels...... so maybe just a rim trade?

Yeah, I'd do the rim swap - no prob. I need to put some track tires on the steelies anyway. I want $200 + the stock wheels though, so it's NOT a free trade CJ!

DOWNSIDE: I can't do a "jack-it-up-n-swap-'em" trade because we don't have a tire machine here. We'd have to go to a tire store somewhere...(hassle).
