I for one am glad this year is over--been an up and down one for me.

Downs were bad: losing my job for petty reasons and having to collect unemployment for the first time in my life.
Still, I know I am better off than others as I have a roof over my head and a family that helps.

The Up's have been great. Passed my qualifying exam for my PhD and can now begin writing my dissertation (defense: Spring 2011).
Spending great times with the SoCal crew.
Other (personal) changes that are also pretty cool. ;)

Thus I begin this new year with high hopes.

I wish you all a Happy New Year here in Germany we wait now 5hrs.46min than we have 2010 and I have to work on the 1th from 0600-1400 (US Army Security Service)
