Odds are the production one won't look anything like it. Was hoping it was going to be bigger than that.

Does look like a Scion and kind of "busy" inside. Still, not too bad ... not my style, but not bad. I like the way the doors open.

I like it, but too small as an HHR replacement. Of course, it's only a prototype and lots will change.

It does have that scion x/b look going on with the honda element clam shell doors added and the interior looks way too busy......few years back looked real close at the x/b (too small), purchased two elements (wasn't the least impressed with them), got rid of an 03 (ugly panels) after three years, got an 06 that was all paint (it was still "a honda"), only lasted 30 months and then found my SS. Won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Since the HHR is leaving and the Orlando is taking on a more Minvan like look where do people who want the anti minivan turn.

Granite by GMC. THis Xb sized box will carry a 1.4 Turbo with a Six speed. It is wider than a the Honda Element and shorter than the Xb. Built on Delta II this vehicle looks to be 90% production and I would guess has a good chance as a 2012 model.

Like it or not this is the new trend of the future. The HHR has had it's run as well as the retro thing. The fact is the entire market and industry is moving to more modern themes. Also GM needs to sell cars world wide not just in 50 States and Canada. Much of our retro designs are lost on 4n buyers. We may have a few friends overseas for out HHR but most do not understand it and think it to be very hidious. Most do not understand what a 48 Suburban was or is. I have read some Euro reviews and stories on the HHR and they have no idea what it represents. The Granite has a modern look that would play well world wide. GM is now selling cars like they should have for a world market with minore tuning changes and not 500 different models for 500 different markets. This is why the Asian companies have been eating their lunch.

This thing should do well with a wide age group. I hope GM wises up and learn the older gen tend to love these vehicles more than the collage crowd. At least it is not just an Orlando clone. GM is out to make cars for everyone. If everyone here loved this I would say they did something wrong.

It is quite large inside for it's overall size. I saw a mountain bike in it that would have been a tight fit in my SS.

While it is not what I would buy I am glad GM has done something like this and will take a share of this market. I just wish it was a Buick and a little more Mini like vs Xb.

At least unlike Honda they got paint on all the fenders.

We have a lot of new GM cars to come in the next 5 years and this is only the start. In time we all will find new favorites. We have a BMW looking Malibu to come at Detroit as well some Zeta II and Alpha RWD cars to come in the next year to two years.

I would like to see the suicide doors. I like the whole look, If that is about 90% I'll take one. 2012 will be about time for a HHR replacement .
I had a 05 xB & liked it. Not as a long trip car but for a DD it was fun, lots of room for a old fat guy. With the seat down the stuff that I could put in that car would make folks smile...

That is the key for me I'm not a minivan, suv or sedan kind of driver and no longer desire a coupe, which is why I went with the HHR. I plan on holding on to the HHR for a while..but dare I say it and sound like a traitor to the HHR nation...to ask what should not be asked -"gasp...shudder" throwing salt over my shoulder - what would replace it?

That said I like the Granite, w/o the suicide doors... but did I already confess that before getting the HHR I was looking at not only the PT, but the Toaster box....the XB;)

Pull your HHR up to a second gen xB. Our vehicles are quite a bit closer in size than you think.

I'll weigh in again and say that I really do like the looks of it. It will be very interesting to see what size it really comes in at, and what the final version will look like. I like the suicide doors, but they'll never happen. Can you imagine someone realizing the back door isn't quite closed at 60 mph and they open it to give it a good hard close? Wooosh, there goes the door down the road.

They look cool, but a total pain. Just ask Element owners.

It'd be the same as the Silverado extended cabs... Not too unrealistic really.

My opinion is the nose cone is a little too aggressive. I like the suicide doors without a B pillar.

As for something more HHR like: http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/new-ford-focus-2010-01-11

Not even close. It is a low roof car and would never carry anything near a HHR or CSUV. I suspect Ford will show us something int he future based on this with more utility.

The final will have some changes like door handles and wheels. ALso I would expect little less bling in the inside with a little more solid seat.

As for the doors GMS wants them and they do make it so one can load large cargo in the side. Two smaller doors would limit carrying and loading.

The doors would be like a Extended cab. and the front would have to open to open the rear or you can use them as a 2 door coupe and just fold the deat forward.

If I were them I would make the rear door open over center like the truck doors to more it out of the way when loading.

Ford is coming to North America with the Grand C-max. Based on the Focus platorm, its basically a rebadged Mazda 5 from what I can see

yah ....I'm thinking this one falls smak dab in the middle of "Function over form". Pretty disappointing coming from Ford, especially when you consider the nice job done on the Fusion and new Focus.
