Thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to get a feel for who's going in one place since we've got a couple threads about this event.

It was too easy!

I let them know that I knew more about the HHR than they did, knew what the invoice was, what the holdback % was, and told them what I would pay

It literally took less than 45 minutes.

hey BlackB it looks like you would have a shorter trip takin 88 rather than comming over to 80 where I`m at cause its almost straight south on 29 for me that would be out of your way so you may just wanna meet up there!! unless you feel like an extra hr or 2 on your trip!! its up to you bud!!?? If you guys wanna come over on 80 and meet at the mc Donalds just north of peru (right on 80) and follow me down thats fine just let me know either way??

I am trying very hard to rearrange my schedule to make it to the meet. I am about 1 hr from Indianapolis. I will be coming from I-74 from Indy. Does anyone know how long the trip to peoria is from Indy? I never trust Mapquest with driving times. Thanks in advance!!:thumb:

oldschoolfreak
07-24-2006, 09:41 PM
well pizzaman, I`m about 1.5 hrs from chicago (downtown) and its probably 45-60 from here to peoria so id say its 2.5 hrs from chicago and add on however long from where your at to chicago.. I have made it to the drag strip in indy from my house in like 4-4.5 hrs so??

Z-Man
07-24-2006, 10:04 PM
Pizzaman
I drove from the South East side of Chicago to Indy and it took us 2 hrs and we got lost, So I guess what I am trying to say is it should take you about 4 and 1/2 hours but then again most of your travel is a 65 MPH. Posted Speed Signs.

What ever you do be very careful because the News states that Some one is Shooting in I-65 in the area of Seymour IN. I my self would like to meet you and not read about you. Hope to see you on the 12th.

Old school, Route not determined as yet, thats why I wanted everyone to check map out. May be better routes, and someone else may need to join in off route. W/Gas prices what they are , any way to shorten drive (although it will be enjoyable behind the wheel of my/our HHR ) will be a cost saver.

scaleguy
07-25-2006, 08:15 AM
Pizza you can figure between three and 4 hrs according to how fast you like to drive, I-74 not bad until you get to the Peoria area, let me know and I can provide best routes...I spent a lot of time in Indy as a kid then go to the Goodguy event at Raceway almost every year... Anyone else that needs specific directions just let emknow and we will get you in...Pat

Hey everybody, I need an update...how many of you are planning on making the cruise after the show and shine, I am going to alert the local cop shops and ask them to hold traffic at the couple of intersections that we will need to clear, I am also going to contact the host clubs of the two cruises that we are going to visit so they know that they are getting a parade of the baddest rides that Chevy has introduced in a very long time!!! I got a call today from a young guy who says "someone put a flyer about an HHR show on my HHR, but my dad wants to bring his too, is it okay if we photocopy the entry?" Guys it is starting to pick up, so please keep it up, let's fill the joint and then make our plans to roll a serious caravan into the nationals next year!!! Thanks to all of you and to the forum, it's too cool to be part of something this fun again !!! Hey if you call my house and don't get an answer please leave a message, we are doing a lot of stuff towards the move and the new house, but my wife does check the messages pretty frequently....Monday is move day...Yippeeeeeeee!!!

oldschoolfreak
07-25-2006, 05:52 PM

Hey, just so everyone understands, there is a long distance trophy avaliable for our run...so you guys in the western part of our region...come on over...We can always change locations next year and make this a traveling regional, I'll go!!! Honestly, we are doing everything possible to make this a fun run, you can call it an inexpensive day trip if you're close or a nice weekend getaway if you're from farther away, but how ever you look at it, you are going to meet some great people, have a good time, grab a stuffed goodie bag and have chances at some pretty cool door prizes...and you just might snag a trophy (and for you guys who are new to this kind of stuff,it is a total rush to have people looking at your ride asking you questions, and that first trophy is an experience that you won't soon forget!) My wife picked up more door prize donations today, I will update the stash after I get home and take inventory...See ya' soon !!! I can't wait !!!

"School actually I meant like next weekend or maybe the Wednesday before our run, just to get together. The day of the run I will be running around like my head is on fire and my A%# is catchin"...lol. Black Beauty thanks for calling John, but since he has sold Driftwood, should we allow the new owner to actually compete...since John doesn't own it anymore? In my opinion I say yes, but I need input from you guys before I ask John to put me in contact with the new owner...I am also looking for suggestions on identifying the criteria for the three classes, I have some ideas already, but I would like your opinions as well. We are having three classes Stock, Mild Custom and Custom. I would like to see a limited number of small mods allowed to the Stock class, then unlimited small mods plus one major mod to be Mild Custom then anything beyond that would be custom...ie...shorty antenna. locks, additional decals and shaved emblems (4 mods under 100.00 each mod) would be stock...a bunch of small mods (under 100.00) and 1 major mod like wheels and tires, lowering or paint would be Mild Custom and finally if you roll in lowered with new wheels and tires or paint you get to be Custom...Okay opinions and ideas please...

Sounds about right, but does anyone around here have a HHR they've only done 4 mods to!:D

BTW, what's a decent clean motel close to where we'll be? Need one for Friday and Saturday Night. Thanks, Pat!

07-28-2006, 02:56 PM
Yeshua (Mike) things are moving right along concerning the move, we will be in late Monday evening...hopefully!!! I have found a web site for hotels roadsideamerica.com you can use it to pick a couple of places that you might be interested in and contact me, I will get you all of the specifics, like distance from the show, cleanliness, etc. Washington, will be the closest, but with limited lodging, then East Peoria and finally Peoria, but all within about 15 miles of the show location, I think that Oldschool is staying over Saturday night because he and his wife are planning on going to the gambling boat in east Peoria, I found out that King sized rooms at the hotel at the Par-a-dice casino are 115.00 a night, but other places will be far more reasonable in pricing. A scheduling error by someone else got me out of work this weekend, so I will have time to research any lodging choices that interest you... We can change the number of minor mods allowed, if you think that I was being too stingy, that was why I was asking for opinions, I just wasn't sure. I am also wondering if we reserve the right to adjust classes due to turn out. I want the majority of people happy with the manner in which we award the trophies, some people couldn't care less, and some couldn't care more, so that is why I am asking for everyone's opinion...That's why I asked about Dritfwood, it will be difficult to beat it because of the money spent and the professional workmanship that went into the build, but I would feel kinda' wierd telling the guy that he couldn't compete...Trophies aren't that important to me, this time anyway, but again I want everyone as happy as possible. I would especially like to see guys who are new to the carshow hobby to have an equal chance to win a trophy. I will never forget winning the first one...it was soooo COOL!!!...

I'm pretty proud of what I've done/doing to "Bob" but there's no way it will ever compare to Driftwood. That was a sponsorship-driven custom project. I don't think you can look at anywhere on the exterior without seeing references to sponsors.

Maybe have a class for extreme mods?? I really don't know how any of us could compete against it. Maybe CJ, but that would be it and he's not coming to the best of my knowledge.

Don't think we can swing the $115 for the casino lodging but maybe they have a package deal! I'll check it out.

Can't tell ya how grateful we are for all the hard work ya put into this Pat!!:one:

Hey Guys & Dolls
I can't wait for the 12th, This site seems like one big huge family and not just a bunch of HHR car owners. Everyone seems to be so nice and caring
and willing to help anyone no matter what race, color or Religion. I think this is beautifull. Pat you have done a wounderfull job by starting this event on the 12th. It seems that I have a new family and I haven't even met anyone
in person other then B/B. I just hope I have my HHR out of the Body shop by then.

What I meant by (clubbers) was, in the Other members of the HHR.net Club (You guys...)
Never even considered Driftwood as anything other than a Celebrity Guest. I don`t think anyone (in the Club, other than a sponsor) could compete against it fairly. This veh. has been in SEMA, I saw it in the Custom Auto show. But, if the new owner wants to hang out with us, NO PROBLEM...

PS. I guess my sense of humor takes some getting used to. There`s nothing wrong with my reset button, it was in reference to the distance trophy. Oldschool, I`m counting on you to help steer our CONVOY safely into Peoria. You seem to know the route, Heck I had to go to Mapquest to even find Peoria

I forgot about Stoney Creek, I have heard that it is really nice, do I need to check into anything for you?...So we have decided that Dirftwood will remain, as originally planned just as an exhibit? Man, that was the biggest hurdle we have had to overcome and I think that it worked well...I really appreciate the thoughts but you guys have done a lot and my wife has helped and even my sons...I am just looking forward to meeting everyone. The aspect of new and very good friends forming a "family" around our trucks...is rare and very cool, I think that we are going to have not only a good time in August, but beyond...way beyond...Hey it looks like if you haven't planned on coming, you might just be missing something pretty special, so chnage your plans, make some new plans just come on over, up down...Think about it thePeople at the Moron cruise are going to freak when a line of HHRs rolls through their parade route and when we stop in Morton and then again in Metamora the people are going to really be interested in the trucks...way cool !!! All of you be careful and start the countdown...military style, Saturday morning means "13 days and a wake up" I am starting to get excited about this !!! I almost forgot, I finally got to talk to Black Beauty a couple of nights ago...oh man he is going to be fun to hang out with...an absolutely great guy...!

The rest of you can feel free to conatct your local media outlets too just in case I didn't get to them! I am also trying to get in touch with the local television that did a story for me on the Panama invasion a couple of years ago...maybe I can get an interview before the show to drum up more interest...I'll let you know...and personally thanks buddy I appreciate what my wife gave me when I got home...very cool !!! and very much appreciated.

Everything is looking good for our attendance at the run. I looked at the flyer and I have read pretty much all of these replys. I am still not sure of the basic run-down of the day. I would like to participate with the after show cruise and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.:D :p:  btw I hope to drive away with the longest distance award:one:

Pizzaman, and everyone else...The show and shine starts at noon and we will go until 4:00 pm then we will do the door prizes and the trophies, we will probably take let's say an hour, then we will move out to the Morton cruise, roll their parade route and hang out if it looks interesting, should get us to about 6:00 pm or so, then roll out to the Metamora cruise and hang out and hit the burger joint. Of course anything is possible after the show and some guys are looking at going to the gamblimg boat, some will just head out after the show, I just wanted to give anyone interested a bit more to do than just the show. There is also a Class A Chicago Cubs affiliate baseball game in Peoria on the night of the run, there are bars and clubs , shopping whatever you might want...Pizza if you see other HHRs in your area please let them know about the run, so far you might be the only "Hoosier" rolling in...I have apretty extensive childhood history around southern Indiana...Pekin, Salem, Lagrow, North Manchester and Seymore are places that I remember a little.

My kids are stoked and I am ready for the drive! I love cruising, that is one of the things I love about the HHR. It is a great cruising automobile. I am leaving my business on my 2nd busiest night of the week to come to this Run, I am really nervous about leaving because my Asst. Mgr will be out of town also. Although I am worried,I will be there and I look forward to meeting all of you.:thumb:

Yea, it's HOT! Went to a new Dr. Tuesday and waited for over an hour to get in, then the Dr. came in and left (30sec.) and was gone 20 min. Well, hell ma, I got my butt up, went to the window and said I'm leaving if you want to charge me go right ahead but I'm not staying here any longer!! Found another Dr. :thumb: Well, today like I said got my boards and couldn't finger them out  SO I called the dealer (not sure what they charge)and they were full till Friday, so the more I got mad, the more I wasn't going to let the boards get one on me  I got them on in about four hours. I think that I am going to be able to squeeze a few hours out of the weekend to work on my truck... I hope so, I barely have any mods complete...Oh well in time I suppose...The house is slowly coming together, but we are fully out of the other place so now we can concentrate on the new place...and the menu for the house warming...it's all about the food!!!

In response to BB - No, not seeking an excuse to miss out on this opportunity. I'm always trying to come up with one to not have to go to work.

With that being said, work is really beating me to death. It's only Thursday and by the end of the day I will have over 90 hours this week (and that doesn't include tomorrow and Saturday's hours, which are hopefully not 18's like they have been).

Just had one person quit, one person fired, one person going to Vegas for 4 days (12th-15th), one wanting to go back to STL for personal stuff and 2 back to Ohio for personal stuff. At this rate, it doesn't look like I'm going to even get to see my own bed.

It should be interesting if I do get the chance to make it down. My interior is in about 25 pieces. You'd think a tornado went through there

Regards to you all and I pray to be able to go!

"I did think you had put it all back together though." - If you are referring to the HHR, this is the second time stuff is coming out, plus some. Major project, no time. Must ... play ... hookie ... from ... work ...

In regards to "most car parts in car or box's", if I could find my camera I would take a picture. I have about 20ish pieces of plastic in the living room along with the head liner, back seats and front passenger seat. In the bedroom I have 3 sub boxes, 4 amps, 4 10" subs and in the kitchen I have misc. audio stuff. My apartment is a disaster right now.

I'll be there one way or another! Wether it's physical or in spirits!

Regards,
Jeremy
