<img src="http://chevyhhr.net/news/redtag.gif" align="left" border="0" hspace="5" vspace="5">Today Chevy announced the RED TAG Sales event. it will go until Jan 3rd.
All Chevy's will be sold for GM Supplier price. And those prices are nationwide. so no matter what state you are in. Everyone gets to buy the same price, just add tax of course.

now here ae some things to be aware of. not all dealers are participating. also anything special ordered does not count. so if you order one today, it will not count. in fact the sticker prices will be slightly going up in the new year.

what does this mean to you? well if you have a car, nothing, but for those looking to buy one. get it now! and dealer locates will be scarce. because of the winter months, alot of dealerships stop ordering vehicles. they do that because the winter months are slow. and all dealerships pay interest on loans. so i know it might upset people, but you may have to buy whats on the lots. when it comes to the hhr, you may have to get a loaded 2lt, but with the discounts, its like you are getting things like leather and sunroofs for free.

if you have any questions, let me know

GM TO BEGIN NATIONWIDE INCENTIVE PROGRAM NOVEMBER 14

DETROIT -- General Motors is starting a national incentive program to run through Jan. 3 despite claims that it would hold to its value pricing strategy.

The program, called GM Red Tag Event, starts Monday, Nov. 14, auto dealers say.

Under the program customers can get any 2005 or 2006 Buick, Pontiac, GMC or Chevrolet car or light truck at the supplier price plus $100, several dealers say. The exceptions to the sale are the Pontiac Solstice, Chevrolet Corvette and new Buick Lucerne, they say. The supplier price is the price offered to employees of GM suppliers.

For example, a 2006 Buick LaCrosse has a sticker price of $23,595, says a Buick dealer who asked not to be named. The supplier price is $21,996, he says. Customers also can use any applicable incentives. GM offers a $1,500 rebate on the LaCrosse. Therefore, the vehicle would cost $20,596, the dealer said.

Value pricing?

GM's last big national incentive program, Employee Discount for Everyone, ended Sept. 30.

Mark LaNeve, GM's vice president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, had insisted that GM would stick to a value pricing strategy for 90 days and offer no big national incentive programs. But the automaker reported a 23 percent sales drop in October from the year-ago month, and dealers have been pleading for more incentives.

Dealers asked GM executives about value pricing during a closed-circuit broadcast on Friday, Nov. 11. Executives told them that there are two big selling seasons -- summer and year end. Dealers say GM executives told them GM would be "crazy not to have a promotion" during the year end because "all the competition will."

GM's value pricing strategy consists of lowering sticker prices on the base models of certain vehicles. The program is designed to move the stickers closer to the transaction prices.

GM told dealers that it will start a national advertising campaign on Sunday, Nov.13, using the slogan, "See some red. Save some green."

GM will send red tags to dealers to hang in the vehicles' windows with the revived advertising phrase, "The price you see is the price you pay, not a penny more."

"It's not nearly as good as GM's employee pricing sale," says Ken Fichtner, owner of Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Mont. "It's 2 percent higher for the customer than GM employee pricing was."

Fichtner says GM will give dealers $400 gross profit per vehicle under the promotion.

Thanks for the info! I was waiting for a winter sale because a few weeks ago the best deal I could work was $1,000 under msrp ( at Serpentinie) so I decided to wait till sales slow and GM really needs to sell.

I will look into this red tag sale.

you have to think like this, yesterday you buy gas for 2.79 a gallon, then today you see it for 2.15. you cant give the gas back. or you can beat yourself up and drive all over the place trying and waiting for cheaper gas. but then you run out, then what?

moral of the story. if you wait, you could loose out. but sometimes it better to pay alittle more and get what you want, then settle for a so-called "deal" and regret your purchase. i cannot tell you how many people wanted to "think about it." they leave and an hour later its sold. then when they realize no one is cheper than us, they come back and get mad at me because they lost out. hell if you want to buy a cobalt, fine think about it, i have 80 of them on my lot. but when you only have 5 HHR's there is no thinking. sorry.

so markymark, dont look back. unless it in your rearview mirror of your new bad ass HHR!

It never fails. Just when you think you are getting a deal, along comes a better one. It has been worth the extra just to see the looks and turned heads when people see my HHR. I also will not look back. Have you seen my ride with running lites on the side in the picture gallery/

How much did you get off of sticker price? I bought mine using the GMAC discount and got over $2500 off. My HHR stickered for $22,220 and I paid $19,642.

that dealer lied. they just want to make more money on the HHR. The HHR's do 100% qualify for the red tag sale! dont let them fool you all. I know i sell the damn thing and know stuff that the average customer doesnt. the loophole is that the dealerships can reserve the right not to sell for red tag or even employee. but GM pays them back the difference, and it hurts them in the long run.

I had a couple of dealers try telling me that seeing as how the HHR is new and selling itself GM didn't give them any room to play with the price and that there are no incentives or discounts. I just walked out of those dealerships and found one that was willing to work with me. I walked in a guaranteed buyer and greed ended up losing them a sale. :p: It's nice to see a car dealer like yourself Batman! :thumb: I ended up saving a bunch anyways using my Grandmothers GMAC discount.

You know how it is! When you pay for something that you realy like, you find out that someone else gets it cheaper. I did not get the best deal either, but I have learned that it is better to recieve what you want without a hassel. I have bougt Saturns for the last 10 years and found a dealer that operates in the same way.
Ginn motors of Covington, Georgia. The best Deal is not always the best Deal!

Batman5273,

I'm currently in the market to but an HHR, but haven't found anything in the color and options I want on any of the lots with in a 100 mile radius of home; so it looks like I will be ordering the car I want. The company I work for does work for GM so the employees get the GM supplier discount; is this discount good for an ordered vehicle?

My company does work for GM also but I have never heard of a supplier discount only the GM employee discount. The dealer only cares if you can get them a GMAC approval number to my knowledge.

Captain Howdy,
I have the authorization number and the form I have says I should identify myself as a "GM supplier employee".
Perhaps it is a different kind of discount.

Cool. My company does developmental work for the GM fuel cell development center in Honeoye Falls, N.Y.. Maybe they don't offer it to my company seeing as how we are not a major supplier yet. Once GM greenlights the mass production of their fuel celled vehicles maybe my company will get lucky and they'll offer it to us. I used my Grandmothers GMAC discount and the dealer told me he didn't care as long as I got him the correct approval number. ;) I think you should be good. Good luck!

I have checked on this at my local dealers. I also get the GM supplier discount. The answer is MAYBE. Depends on the dealer. Yes, GM allows the discount on ordered vehicles - including HHR. But some dealers are not willing to do it for you. Of the 6 dealers I have spoken to, 2 were willing to order at GM supplier Price. One even said that they would honor Red tag price for special orders. (I know that is basically the same discount) Just shows that some dealerships are willing to work with us. Some are only looking for large profit on a high demand vehicle.

By the way, one of the dealers would not even honor GM Supplier price on HHR's they already had on the lot. Said they only sold them for MSRP + $2000. But for me - rather than give me GM supplier pricing, they would let me have it for the low, low price of MSRP. They told me every dealer in the area would tell me the same thing, and would probably not even come down to MSRP. By the way they had 6 HHR's on the lot that wer not moving very fast. That was about a month ago and I think they still have some of them.

I'll stop rambling on now. Just my 2 cents... +2 cents... +2 cents... :D

SoCalHHR

A very valuable 2 cents I'd say! :thumb: People need to realize that many dealers will be trying to take them to the cleaners on HHR's starting right now.

1) Dealers can only get so many HHR's as GM currently can't keep up with production.

2) They sell as fast as they come in.

3) Dealers don't make much on the HHR at MSRP. (*They actually get a credit from GM for each one they sell.)

With this being the case, it's easy to see how tacking on a "stipend" will become normal for any dealers. We saw this here in California with the Plymouth Prowler, which MSRP'd at 26k. Within months they had skyrocketed to 45k!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - FLEET MANAGER! That is the person to see when buying your HHR. They often have special internet pricing and are usually the ONLY person at the dealership who is allowed to give special pricing. Call the Fleet Manager.

Hope it helps someone...

Guys,
Thanks for the feedback and the information. Nothing better than having your guns loaded when you walk into a dealership and know what your talking about and not letting the shiney chrome and fancy paint gum up your thinking cells.
I keep you upraised of what happens in the coming weeks.

Well,
The dealership DID honor the GM Supplier discount and I saved an additional $100 more than the red tag sale. They found my car about 200 miles away at another dealership and I took delivery of it on November 30, and coincidently it began too snow at the same time and the weather has gotten cold here in Wisconsin.
When I figure out how to post a pic of the car I will.
So far with about 200 miles I have put on it I just love this vehicle.
