Not in a HHR obviously, but to my few racing buddies out there...I was asked to shoe my old buddy's 10 second race car again.

Some might remember in 08 when he brought the car out for me to make a few passes before PINKS ALL OUT (I was to race this car on the show), and on the first hit, the tranny took a dump.
Back then, I brought it back to the pits after a failed launch attempt, and right when I shut it off, tranny fluid started pouring out of the bell-housing. Turns out back then, when Trans-King shipped the transmission, they failed to remove a JIG bolt from the front pump upon assembly so when the tranny built up pressure(trans-brake), it blew the seal fortunately, it didn't happen ON TRACK...

so THIS time, we hoped it was ok.

it still has a trans-brake issue though, but I was able to get it down the track 4 times.

here's a few great shots from my friend Jeff Kindt. The launch pic with all the black smoke = OLD PLUGS!!! you should have seen them when we took them out. Surprised it even ran that well 1st pass. Those plugs were 2 years old, used to start it, drive it around, warm ups, etc...we figured lets run them and then change them after the first pass...cough cough cough...can you say "dirty plugs"?

Wow....if I didn't know any better I'd say the times are rigged....who races downhill!!!
Ive seen this affect at several tracks..its very deceiving....and its just photography

yea...the famous "Infineon illusion". Vegas looks the same way...but as a racer....going 127 mph...an up=hill shut down sure is sweet.
Infineon has an adjusted level of 14 inches of downhill grade from starting line to finish line. But it also has two up hill stretched in the center from the 'tunnel work' they implemented in 2001 that pass UNDER the drag racing surface.
it starts level, you go up hill, then down, then up again, then down....1320 feet of racing surface, 14 inches drop at the finish line.

here's a couple shots looking down track from a photographer-friend of mine to give you a more realistic view of the "not downhill" track layout

Wow, congrats on some nice runs! That is a sweet-looking Stang! (even if it is a Ford!)

Great launch pictures also! I has to be a real rush to pilot a ride that will pull the wheels like that from the tree! :thumb: I'll bet the uphill shutdown area is nice! The only track I have ever run seems actually like it crwns downhill at the end. It has to come up real fast for someone who is putting up some real low numbers!
